hey, when this report comes out, don't expect any answers, don't be upset if you don't learn anything. >> but we have learned some things. >> now the report is turned over and we did learn about this new stop. are you concerned with what the reaction will be today, tonight, tomorrow? and what are you going to do to temper expectations and to help people be, as you say, patient. >> what we've asked for is a clear, transparent investigation. and obviously, what we are getting is additional information, because we've requested transparency. but we can't put a timeline on this kind of information. as the police commissioner said, that was his timeline, and obviously, some more information has poured in. if we would have rushed for an investigation to come out, maybe we would not have learneded of this investigation. >> quickly, it's interesting, by coming out day earlier, maybe they fu they diffused a little bit of the tension. >> if they would have come out a little earlier, i would have been even more grateful. i want to thank them, all of the

the moment here at pennsylvania and north, where we've been all day, ever since early this morning. just down the side street here we did see a small number of people come out, throw some projectiles, and run back down a small alley there. we did hear also at one point, that more reinforcements would be brought in. but at this point, it doesn't seem to be necessary, at least, not from where we are, not for right now. i know a little earlier, don, you heard me talk to one of the community leaders who was walking up and down this front line that you see here telling people to go home, talking over the loud speaker, telling people to pay attention and to be -- pay attention to the curfew that was in effect at 10:00. and then i saw her just a few moments ago, she had tears in her eyes. it was heartbreaking, actually to see that. because she tried to desperately to prevent something like this from happening.

here earlier complied and took their children home, took their loved ones home. but there are still some people o out here. i married my colleague, miguel marquez talk about this a little earlier, this relationship between the community and the media. when you look at the number of people who are in this crowd, it's difficult to tell from this camera point of view, but a lot of these people here are also members of the media. and the community is saying that because we're here, some of those people in the community who might not be here, are staying here because of tour cameras. we're trying to work this out, because we want to be out here to responsibly report what's going on, but also be sensitive to those who are here in the community, trying to clear the area or trying to keep some of those people who are angry, you can hear some of them yelling right now, go home, go home, trying keep some sort of sense between those people are -- once again, you're going to hear -- >> please go home! >> please be home by 10:00!

situation like this planning and preparation in advance is a must. you have to bring in the required resources at least if they're not on the scene, have them on standby in a place where they can get to these pockets of resistance and rioters and take action. that doesn't seem to have been what happened last night. >> do you think, sir, the national guard should have been called in earlier? >> i do. and i said that last night on another network around 5:00 6:00 last night. where's the governor? where is the national guard? if the baltimore police state police don't have enough resources, then the national guard has to be called in. >> you know oddly enough these violent protesters because it seemed like they had a plan because they were striking in different parts of the city.

hindenburg. rosie o'donnell was the president's first choice to be here this evening, she withdrew citing a nasty and brougutal confirmation process. i wasn't even the second choice. dennis miller was the second choice, but he got hung out by an illegal nanny technicality. but isn't that what the confirmation process is all about here in washington? weeding out the truly qualified to get to the truly available. >> first of all, can we talk about jon stewart's hair? he looked amazing right there. dl, for our viewers who didn't see this earlier, you were asked to host during president bush and you said no, because they wanted to see your jokes. >> right. but i don't think you'd be able to tell jokes -- >> well, colbert did.

from a person that we met one time in estonia and she reached out and with her best wishes. and that's just who he was. he had this thing he would do he would walk up to someone, it could be in a hotel in holland, never met the person before say, hey, good to see you again, how are you doing? and people would just be taken aback, like i know this guy and he just made about you feel that comfortable. we would say that dan had this ability to create a reality distortion field. and that his friend had so much power he could change the reality around to what ashley was saying, would he make the world just such a happy, vibrant place to be. >> so guys i'm wondering here and laurie and i were talking about this earlier, what do you think he would want from the world, and i know that's big question. but what i mean is he lived his

reviews are not unusual. the security professionals after every operation try to ereview what had occurred even when it's successful. particularly when it's successful to derive lessons learned and look for other ways or changes that could be put in place to strengthen our protocols, both in terms of their capabilities and ensuring that they're living up to the values that are so important to our country. >> mr. weinstein said today she hoped her husband death would prompt the u.s. government to take its responsibility seriously and establish a coordinated and consistent approach to supporting hostages and their families. do you hear that criticism and can or should the united states government be doing more to support hostages and their families? >> well jeff i probably should have said this earlier, but it's the president had the opportunity to do that this morning. but let me use this opportunity to convey our condolences to the
