earlier i have been talking about for the past week. things in this case, in terms o. -- of the pressure and emotion are not going to go down. they're going higher and higher, the contrast of the relief of being able to put a jury in place, which quite frankly i think happened a little bit earlier than some people, myself included, believed that it would is something that is very interesting when you think about that. that's a sense of pressure for everyone o involved. now the jury is impanelled and they're moving forward. the pressure has increased, and now these outside distractions that none of us could have predicted are coming in such a way that only amplified the differentth emotions that are pt of a very emotionally charged environment. what i make of its impact is this is a trial that is unlike anything we have ever seen and likely going to e show us thing that we've never seen in a significantly emotionally charged environment that everyone,ro prosecutors, jurors
strikes me as a little farfetched. most people who follow this have an opinion about his character. it would strike me as more believable if they have an opinion but i can set it to the side. i can be impartial and focus on the the facts and the law. and when those people were trying to try too hard to seem neutral, those jurors seemed like there were red flags. a lot of those jurors were excused and not picked, put there are a few on the jury. that interesting to watch as we proceed. >> what do you make of the anxiety that's been described by journalists in the courtroom. the tear, the emotion, the fear. >> so the jury number two, the nurse, who found herself being outed on national tv,s that was just heartbreaking. the fact that she would have been a good juror. she was ready to be fair and impartial. because she was outed, now she finds an inflood of messages. she's scared. she's criticized as prejudging
trial testimony or has a family emergency or or something goes wrong in their personal life and they need to step off the case. they will go to the judge and ask permission. hopefully that never happens. but the alternative it's are sitting next to the jury while the trial is underway, they are hearing the same evidence that the sworn in jury panel is hearing, and they will be immediately available. well, two step in if needed i'm glad you mentioned the process that we witnessed or at least read about it, turns a jury selection and evan alluded to this too, as well, jeremy, where in one case, in particular prospective alternate after or talking in started to cry. >> she asked to be dismissed after she said, quote, this is so much more stressful in her words than i thought these jurors without question, i could be under a ton of pressure and i think this morning we saw the emotion come
