Key former Trump White House staffers struggle to find work: report

Loading the player...
It’s typical for a new presidential administration to clean house and bring in fresh staff to fill top jobs in the executive branch.
When the old White House regime leaves, former staffers are usually swift to find new jobs and positions, whether in the political or corporate arenas. However, some former Trump administration workers are not finding new work so easily.
The
New York Times reports that some former White House staffers, who stayed under the employment of former President
Donald Trump up to the end of his only term, are slow to gain employment elsewhere.

Please Let 2021 Be the Year Republicans Are Banned From Quoting MLK

By Vivian KaneJan 18th, 2021, 3:15 pm
Last week during the House of Representatives’ hearing on the second impeachment of Donald Trump, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace engaged in a longtime favorite conservative pastime that is beyond time to put a stop to: twisting Martin Luther King Jr.’s words to fit a Republican agenda.
“Today I’m asking my colleagues to remember the words of the legendary, the great leader in this country, Dr. Martin Luther King, who once said, ‘The time is always right to do what is right,'” Mace said from the House floor.
First of all, her use of that specific quote makes no sense in this context, since Mace is arguing that while she thinks Trump might have committed impeachable offenses, she also thinks House Democrats are rushing the impeachment process. Which is weird, because if impeaching Trump is the right thing to do, then shouldn’t the time be right (or ripe, as King is quoted as having actually said) to do it?

Graduate students and alumni of the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS)  have launched a campaign and petition to revoke the degrees earned by Harvard alumni who worked in the Trump administration and Harvard grads in Congress who support the president.
"Harvard must revoke the degrees of alumni whose incendiary language and subversion of democratic processes -- rooted in a history of white supremacist voter suppression -- incited the violent insurrection on January 6," reads the petition, which is headlined "Revoke Their Degrees."

For the first time in US history, a president has been impeached twice. Meanwhile, four years of Donald Trump has resulted in the Republicans losing both the House and the Senate, as well as states that are traditionally ruby red like Georgia. So what went wrong?
At one point in time, most people expected Trump to win a second term as president. Following the 2019 closure of the Russia probe led by Robert Mueller, which Trump described as a vindication, it was widely thought that Trump could garner people’s sympathy by claiming he was the target of an unlawful witch-hunt. Added to that, the economy was growing and jobs were being created, although that was at the expense of a growing budget deficit and public debt. However, the average Joe was able to get a job and CEOs and shareholders were happy with their increasing profits due to Trump’s tax cuts. Then came the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and everything went downhill from there.

Forbes Editor and Chief Content Officer Randall Lane called on companies to not hire any of the former press secretaries of the Trump White House (and presumably
any ex-Trump communications personnel) because they are "chronic liars" and must not be allowed to "cash in on their dishonesty."
"Trump’s liars don’t merit that same golden parachute," said Lane in his Jan. 7 article, which is entitled,
A Truth Reckoning: Why We're Holding Those Who Lied for Trump Accountable.
