injailfor years, just because of they are speaking up against the government. what's more scary is their families also face similar situations. but your families have been questioned, they were briefly detained. and are they saying to you, "nathan, we've got a real problem here"? for now, definitely, we don't have any direct communication. and the government is trying to fabricate a scenario where they think that there are lots of people in hong kong — no matter it's my former colleagues or, like, family members, they are actively supporting my advocacy work, which are... and funding you — that's an allegation. which are absolutely false. i don't think they can provide any evidence of these connections because there are not — and it's really, for them, they are trying to make the scene of an exile activist, like, working closely with people who are still in hong kong and trying to make a case of it.

school gunman has been arrested after making threats do the same thing. he is facing a felony charge of making public threats to a public place and misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats of a family member. ed lavandera is with us, and what are you learning about these latest developments? >> well, omar, this is coming from the court document, and the arrest affidavit for 17-year-old nathan james cruz and in these documents the investigators are outlining the information they say they have obtained from the suspect's mother and sister, and this happened yesterday morning, and the suspect's mother contacting the san antonio police saying that the suspect's mother had told the police that this 17-year-old was quote planned to do the same thing as his cousin had done in mass shooting at robb elementary school in may of 2022 where 19 children and two teachers were gunned down. in that affidavit, the mother says she overheard or told the
17-year-old nathan james cruz faces two charges of making terroristic threats to a public place and family member. police tell "the new york times" he is the cousin of the gunman who killed 19 children, two teachers at robb elementary in may of last year. ed lavandera is live from dallas. so authorities, obviously, as they should take this seriously. tell us what happened. >> reporter: more importantly, it was the family members who took this extremely serious. according to the arrest warrant affidavit for nathan james cruz, san antonio police were called by his mother yesterday morning where she went on to describe that -- or her son had, quote, planned to do the same thing as his cousin, who carried out the mass shooting at robb elementary school in uvalde, just west ever san antonio, where 19 children and two teachers were killed in may of 2022. and in the conversation that the mother and sister had with
police, that was documented in this arrest warrant affidavit. vestigators also say that the sister had been driving with cruz in a car d that he threatened her, saying that he would shoot the school. now, this family and the mother were concerned because she says her son is on probation, lives near a school, although the documents do not identify which school iis there in san antonio. and that she had also overheard a conversaon that her son had with someone as he was trying to make an illegal purchase for an ar-15 firearm. now, investigators took nathan james cruz into custody. in the court documents, cruz denied making these threats. but investigators there in san antonio have charged the 17-year-old with a felony count of making terroristic threats to a public place as well as a misdemeanor charge for terroristic threats of his family. he is being held on a $160,000
