Message from the Consul General, Jeffrey Lodinsky | U.S. Embassy in Egypt

Greetings from the U.S. Embassy Cairo Consular Section. I want to wish you a happy 2021 and update you on our operations. We have all faced unprecedented challenges this year, but the U.S. Embassy has remained open and the Consular Section has been working hard to provide emergency services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. While we have had to temporarily reduce some services to keep you and our staff safe, we are open.
Supporting American citizens is our number one priority, and we are proud to have continued providing this support throughout the pandemic. Since March 2020, we have helped repatriate more than 700 U.S. citizens and issued thousands of U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. We are accepting appointments for passports, notary services, and marriage affidavits and maintaining our special citizen services. If you are a U.S. citizen in Egypt who needs assistance, please review our American Citizen Services page for information on our services and how to get in touch with us.

The United States Embassy has announced interview visa waivers for qualified citizens of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as of February 4, 2021.
“Passport holders from St. Vincent and the Grenadines may qualify for a visa renewal interview waiver if their previous visa expired within the past two years and they are applying for the same visa category as their previous visa,” the Embassy said in a release.
This development is part of the United States Government’s continuing efforts to facilitate travel with our Caribbean partners, improve customer service during the COVID-19 pandemic, and streamline the visa renewal process the release said.

Explained: All you should know about America's new H-1B selection process

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a final rule for H1-B visa, giving priority to salary and skills instead of the current lottery procedures. This is aimed to protect the economic interests of US workers and better ensure the most highly skilled foreign workers benefit from the temporary employment programme. To recall, the US H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
The proposal was issued by the Trump administration a few days before the US elections and public comments were invited.

stage. >> so this video, mass shootings apparently shown at a dinner party. that seems like major information for the fbi. >> absolutely. i think one of the big questions is going to be, you know, these people that he was watching this with, was this something coordinated or planned? as juliette said, you don't just wake up and do this. we've had lone wolf actors. if this was done with some kind of coordinated activity that takes it into a different category. i think another question will be what kind of weapons did he use and how did he get them? here people who are here on a nonimmigrant visa are not allowed to purchase weapons under federal law except for certain exceptions. so, you know, did he fall under these exceptions, did he have a firearm anyway, or did he get these illegally and how did it fall through the cracks if that was the case? >> here is what we know about the vetting as mark esper is saying they're taking another look at the processes specially
