finally tonight here, lost and then found. it all began with our correspondent clayton sandell last week here, holding up a purple heart he found at a store. tonight, he's found something else. the rightful owner. >> reporter: a purple heart is one of the most revered military honors and last week for a story, we bought one. >> i just bought this one at a military surplus store here in colorado springs. we started wondering about the name engraved on the back -- taft m. joseph, jr. but finding him got off to a rough start. i think he thought i was a telemarketer, because when i called him, he hung up on me -- three times. so, we tracked down his brother, who told us taft joseph was a young captain in vietnam. wounded in combat, awarded that purple heart. but sometime back in the '70s, it had gone missing. so, we traveled to overland park, kansas, to pay retired lieutenant colonel taft a visit. joseph? >> how are you doing? >> reporter: taft suffered a head wound when his unit was
