at all. he should be president of the united states. so it would be laughable if it wasn't so silly. >> all right. back to the substance here. greg, part of what was addressed today reporting from politico about a meeting between the january 6th committ and fani willis' team. committee staff quietly met with agents working for fulton county district attorney fani willis in mid-april 2022 as she prepared to convene a special grand jury investigation. in the previously unreported meeting the january 6th committee aides let the district attorney's team review but not keep a limited set of evidence gathered. trump's team wants information about this meeting, what do you think they could learn that has not already been released publicly by the committee, greg? >> that's the big question. this is part of the republican narrative there's collusion between joe biden's administration and district attorney fani willis who said, said at one point she didn't even know if jack smith would be

took office, since she first heard that infamous phone call between donald trump and brad raffensperger, she joked she wished brad raffensperger didn't live in fulton county, but he does. this is her territory. they have interviewed 75 witnesses for the special grand jury investigation, and compiled who knows how many documents and reams of information, so she's ready, and i think we saw that when she basically called chesebro's bluff, and said you know what, i'm ready for trial october 23rd if it comes to that. we don't know if it will come to that, chesebro's defense attorneys have not seen discovery. they don't know what kind of case prosecutors have lined up. they could retract the request for a speedy trial. fani willis has demonstrated she's ready for anything that comes at her. >> i wonder, the test, laura, of the criminal justice system, it's been tested on the federal

warrant for donald trump. an appeals court opinion states, quote, the district court found probable cause to search the twitter account for evidence of criminal offenses. turns out that twitter and jack smith squared off on whether trump should be told about the search warrant, with the federal court ultimately ruling to keep the warrant a secret from trump. it says that, quote, the district court found there was reasonable grounds to believe that disclosing the warrant to former president trump would seriously jeopardize the ongoing investigation by giving him an opportunity to destroy evidence, change patterns of behavior or notify confederates. it's hard to remember now given that the ex-president was banned for twitter for years and has not posted since his return, but his twitter account was one of the most powerful weapons in the aftermath of the 2020 election. he used it to spread baseless conspiracy theories to his

state department official, rick stengel. walk us through how we learned about it and the legal fight between the special counsel and twitter. >> sure. we learned about it because this was newly unsealed. it's still redacted but it details not only the fact that the prosecutors wanted this information but they made credible arguments that in fact if donald trump knew about it, that he would try to destroy evidence or try to somehow publicly influence others to do something that would harm the investigation and even though with the existence of the investigation. in fact a judge ruled that this was true. i think what it does is it underscores the idea that donald trump is not somebody people believe could be trusted with evidence of any kind of information of any kind if it was going to benefit him to reveal it, manipulate it or somehow use it to make his own political case. i think this is really relevant

raffensperger that republican secretary of state, can you find the 11,780 votes, he's dealing with people who would supposedly support him but in the end, supported the law and supported the constitution. i think that will be powerful not only to the people of georgia but the people around the country. >> patricia, this investigation began february 2021 before the january 6th select committee was established, before trump's second impeachment trial wrapped. what have you learned about the depth, the breadth of this investigation? >> well, we have learned certainly by finding out who were witnesses in the special grand jury investigation and then again who was being duplicated in this investigation exactly what kind of strings and strands of a story line fani willis may be polling. we look at bea wynn on the end of rudy giuliani's testimony.

reportedly cites law professor lawrence tribe in this investigation. tribe is a prominent, vocal critic of donald trump. "my own conclusion is that all of this, the indictment included is at least from mid november 2020 chesebro had a scheme including using my treaties that he used as my justice assistant, thereby casting me, wrongly, would make it easier for trump to circumvent the election law act. it seems like chesebro was

mark your calendars. sometime in the coming days, donald trump could go to a disgraced, twice impeached quadruple president. he may not be the only one who gets indicted. from "the new york times," quote, the "the georgia investigation may be the most expansive legal challenge yet to the efforts that mr. trump and his advisers undertook to keep him in power after he lost the 2020 election. more than 20 people are told they could face charges as a result of the investigation." at least three georgia officials could take the stage in the next few days as part of willis's attempt to seek indictments.

given the fact that they have already indicted the president and his coconspirator walt nauta, and they got a big january 6th indictment that may be coming down the pike in, oh, the next ten business days. >> yeah. >> do you find that evidence of anything remarkably aggressive in the doj's wheel house? >> i think it is different than the way that doj typically conduct business. oftentimes, the doj will either indict or seek a plea deal first against lower level offenders, and in an attempt to flip those people -- >> yeah -- >> and then they will bring charges against the pink king pin. here, doj seems to be adopting an opposite approach. we are going to -- almost open our come mono and show you through this very detailed speaking indictment all the things we know. we are going to show you what we know from people's tax. we are going to show you what we know from surveillance footage. we are going to show you what we know from testimony. it is really an impressive compendium of their investigation. then, they go out and say things like this target letter. that indicates someone, there is something for me to be scared about.

indicted former president had any criminal charges filed against, him donald trump tried to put an end to the investigation into his possible attempts to subvert the 2020 election down in georgia. trump's lawyers moved to disqualify fulton county da fani willis. they argued to the fulton county superior court that the special grand jury investigation was, quote, confusing, flawed and, at times blatantly unconstitutional. and since then, little has happened. for about three months, there has not been a ruling. and now we are just over two weeks away from the start of the time period that dea da willis laid out. highlighted here are the day she could possibly file a criminal indictment against donald trump. and, as a result, trump's team is acting with, shall we say, greater urgency. today, trump's lawyers filed petitions into georgia courts, that's a in fulton county superior court they filed a petition in last march, and the georgia supreme court, which is

now is the opportunity for me to flip. that also might be an indication of how they are going to go about their generous -- >> well, that was my next question, is, does that give you a sense of the roadmap, that they go for trump -- they're actually starting at the top of the pyramid and go their way down. because we know that the special counsel's office has been talking to secretaries of state across the country. that was breaking news this morning. do you think that they are going to be pursuing their targets in the same way, which is to say, donald trump, in the next ten days? but then the investigation into january six continues with potential indictment through the fall? >> you know, i won't be as confident to say the next ten days. but i do think the way that they have gone about this could be a signal of what they are going to do when we do see a january 6th indictment and i am increasingly confident that we will see -- >> okay. i mean, our secret weapon, not our secret weapon. america's favorite weapon when it comes to -- naturally weapon. just mind, brain trust. thank you for your time. >> thanks for having me. >> we are so lucky to have. you and there are even more
