Hero snow plow driver saves boy in Wisconsin after wandering from home

WEST BEND, Wis. (WLS) -- A snowplow driver is being hailed as a hero after saving a 5-year-old boy who wandered away from home in subzero temperatures.
David Gehrke was out clearing roads at 4 a.m. in West Bend, Wisconsin last Friday when he found the child alone and cold without a jacket or shoes.
"I immediately took my jacket off and wrapped it around him and put him in the truck," Gehrke said.
"I called police dispatch. I got the heat blasting in the truck. I'll keep him warm until we get help on the way."

Capt. Chase Cornell recounts rescue of man stranded 36 hours at sea: 'It was nothing short of a miracle'

"For a minute there I was thinking, 'This is very bad. There's no one around,'" Stuart Bee said.
Crew members Robert Lynch and Jack Hendrix said the sight of the castaway in the middle of the ocean will stick with them forever.
"Next thing you know, Chase is upstairs saying, 'It's a person! Help him! It's a person,'" Hendrix recalled in the interview with WPBF.
Lynch added, "You have to help. And that's just what we were doing."
Lynch said he grabbed a life preserver and tossed it to the man, who dove onto the ring.
Cornell and his crew said that when they got the man, who was wearing a life jacket, aboard their 18-foot boat, he recounted a harrowing journey that started in Bimini, Bahamas, two days earlier.

Griddy energy tells Texas customers to leave them as power bills skyrocket during winter storm

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- While millions were without power for days during and after the historic winter storm, there were others like Savannah Thigpeen.
She said she has been doing all she can to conserve electricity, but after just two days of barely any use, she is looking at a bill over $600.
"Before I went to bed Tuesday night, I got another notification that it was a negative $453," Thigpeen said.
That was after paying nearly $200 on Monday.
Thigpeen lives alone in a one-bedroom apartment in the Spring Branch area.
In November, she switched to Griddy, a Texas wholesale electricity provider. They charge market price for customers based on their personal kilowatt usage.
