Baby Manning James of Roanoke, Va. was born profoundly deaf.
After recently being fitted with the implants, the 10-month-old bounced with joy as he got to hear the music on his favorite show, "Muppet Babies," for the first time.
His mom Noelle Brantley says the moment brought her to tears.
"To most people this is just something every baby does, but to me, this is incredible!" Noelle wrote on Facebook.

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- A wedding band lost nearly 50 years ago found its way home this Valentine's Day.
Robert and Karen Autenrieth got married on April 16, 1966. Not long after that, the couple was living in Chicago when Karen lost her ring.
"We were climbing through the snow drifts, and I was helping the three kids get into the car," she recalled in an interview with KSAT. "At some point in time, the hand went (this way) and the ring went into the snow bank."
She searched frantically, even long after the snow melted away, but the ring was nowhere to be found.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- For some students and teachers, online learning continues to pose unique challenges.
Our partners at Community Impact Newspapers reported this week that Cy-Fair ISD officials voiced concerns after its district's diagnostic tests revealed it could take up to two years to get students back on track after losing school days following March 2020, and for those falling behind online.
Sky Guerra is a high school student learning online, along with her younger siblings.
She said system glitches, access to a laptop or high speed internet, plus the work load for online classes are some of the common challenges they continue to face.

Heights man Robert Fowler Turns To Ted and donates washer-dryer replacement to new American family

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A long-time Houston Heights resident says he spent almost 60 hours trying to get a busted washer-dryer replaced before he Turned to Ted. The best part of the solution is that the replacement wasn't even for him, but a needy charity.
"Here's the deal," Robert Fowler told ABC13 recently in his backyard, "We bought it in July of 2019."
Fowler was speaking of a busted clothes washer still sitting just inside his breakfast room.
"We would put the clothes in, it would start to spin, it would stop and it would say, 'Rebalance load,'" he said. "It would go 15 or 30 seconds, it would stop, [and again light up] 'Rebalance load.' It would just keep doing this over and over and over."

A U.S. Coast Guard Clearwater helicopter hoisted the two men and woman off the island. The rescue took about 30 minutes, Mike Allert, the aircraft commander on the helicopter, told ABC News.
The three were then brought to the Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Florida, with no reported injuries, officials said. They did show signs of dehydration and fatigue, Allert said, though he noted that their conditions were good considering how long they were stranded.

Fort Bend resident concerned over vaccines' effect on South African COVID-19 variant

"It is scary because I don't ever want this again," said Aguilar.
There are several highly contagious COVID-19 variants moving in the U.S., including the one that originated in the U.K., which is expected to become the dominant strain by the end of March. But it's the South African one that experts are worried about, as they said the vaccines seem to be less effective against it.
Researchers at Houston Methodist have been gathering data on every COVID-19 positive case in their system since March. They have been examining the genome sequence or genetic make-up in each one of those positive cases - it's now up to 20,000 genomes. Through this research, they recently discovered the South African variant in Fort Bend County.
