　　点点滴滴、桩桩件件，都体现了用心为师生服务的不懈努力。中山大学党委认真落实党中央关于开展“我为群众办实事”实践活动要求，身系、心系、情系人民群众，，把学习党史同总结经验、观照现实、推动工作结合起来，强化公仆意识、为民情怀，把学习成效转化为工作动力和成效。
　　察民情访民意走稳办实事第一步
　　党史学习教育开展以来，中山大学各级党组织和党员领导干部躬身深入师生群众一线，广泛听取意见、了解群众“急难愁盼”。校领导班子成员举行多场“我为群众办实事”实践活动征求意见座谈会，广泛听取分管部门和师生代表的意见建议，各二级党组织广泛开展“我为群众办实事”调研活动。在此基础上，学校层面制订了重点民生项目清单，聚焦加强多校区办学的信息化建设，提升多校区管理服务同质化水平；加强师生员工人文关怀，关爱师生员工身心健康；提升食堂品质，改善师生用餐体验；加强校区基础设施建设，改善师生学习工作生活条件；创新人才培养方式，实施2021级大一新生大类招生与集中培养等事项。设置工作台账，将清单事项中具体措施、时间节点、负责部门落地落细。各二级党组织共拟定办实事项目清单429项。通过广调研、深走访，学校各级党组织精准对接发展所需、基层所盼、师生所想、民心所向，用力走稳为师生群众办实事的第一步。
　　让数据在“三校区五校园”间跑起来

　　设备与实验室管理处在规范采购前提下，搭建实验材料采购平台、优化平台结算方式、持续更新上线商品种类。平台自上线以来，持续新增及优化采购功能约270项、上线电气、电工等工科实验材料制品约40万个，缓解了师生燃眉之急，受到广大师生欢迎。
　　推出智能化平台与系统。财务处积极推进财务问答智能化工程，于5月份推出“财务智能机器人”，可实现全天候人机对话，方便师生随时随地获得智能问答服务。内容包括制度答疑、报销指南、资产管理、科研经费、系统使用、学费缴纳等常规业务问题，每时每刻陪伴师生解决报销难题。
　　为从细节上更好地服务教师日常的教学工作，教务部在学校企业微信端开设了“教务提醒”专栏，将本科教务系统上各开课院系录入的排课信息整合推送至个人企业微信，实现了教师手机移动端的每日上课提醒。该功能还实时结合开课单位排课情况与教师调停课申请审批情况，自动更新上课时间、上课地点等提醒信息。此外，为切实解决教师教学工作量计算这一“痛难点”，教务部在本科教务系统开发上线教师工作量统计子系统，依据系统中开课院系教学数据自动生成每学期教学工作量，由教师直接复核，以免除教师在查数填表、文本信息核对上耗时耗力，极大提高了核算统计效率，方便教师实际操作。
　　让党旗飘扬在人民最需要的地方
　　中山大学党委及时响应省委省政府号召，迅速组织部署，精准施策，集中力量开展疫情防控，将“为群众办实事”落实到急难险重任务的担当上，体现到党员干部的岗位职责上，展现在广大师生、医护人员情系人民的实际行动中。
　　中山大学10家附属医院责无旁贷，勇当疫情防控“急先锋”。千名医护人员和志愿者深入社区、校园、疫情防控一线，齐心奋斗，集结成强大的抗疫力量。疫情期间，中山大学各附属医院奔赴广州市各区，佛山禅城区，深圳盐田区、福田区以及珠海市定点区域等地进行核酸采样和检测，一线投入的医务人员 6000余人次，累计采样80余万份。“我是党员，我先上”“我年轻，申请参加半夜的那个批次”……踊跃请战之场面令人动容。学校党委、二级党组织、附属医院党委和医院基层党支部众志成城，保证了抗疫一线工作有力有序，高效团结，为疫情防控提供坚强的政治保障和组织保障。
　　附属第一医院、孙逸仙纪念医院技术创新，分别开创“移动方舱实验室”支援核酸检测工作，通过“就地采样、就地检测”的方式，节省核酸样本的运送时间，极大提高了核酸检测效率。附属第三医院医学人工智能中心和中山大学计算机学院联合研发“医用防护用具穿脱流程智能教官”，实现实时指导医务人员规范穿脱防护用具，防止院内感染。同时，该系统还具有侦测人物动作，提示流程错误，语音播报动作要领和实时动作示范等多项功能，可应用在医疗机构隔离病房和大范围培训教学场景。
　　为有效缓解看病难的问题，学校多家附属医院推出互联网医院，打造便民服务“云”平台。近日，附属第一医院、第六医院举行党员名医专家“云”义诊活动，近千名党员名医专家“坐镇”义诊，通过电话、视频、文字等为就诊者提供新冠疫情防控咨询、居家急救科普及慢病健康管理咨询等诊疗服务。为减少患者聚集带来的疫情传播风险，各附属医院通过互联网为疫情封控区域患者提供咨询寄药服务，还先后推出智能问诊、图文咨询、处方开立、检验检查开立/预约、核酸自助预约等功能，并开通了免费的发热门诊，大大方便了群众就医。

Boston University will distribute half of a $23 million federal coronavirus aid package to needy students, providing them with $11.5 million in assistance, $4 million more than required by the government.
Beginning next week, more than 9,000 students in need will receive a direct “technology subsidy” of $500, $1,000, or $1,400 to defray the costs of remote learning under the University’s Learn
from Anywhere hybrid teaching and learning model.
The $23 million is BU’s share of the $23 billion in the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund included in the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act passed by Congress in December 2020.

Starting Monday, January 25, Boston University students and parents with questions about admissions, financial assistance, and more will get many answers immediately, day or night. No, BU staff in those departments are not working around the clock. The response to questions will come from the artificial intelligence virtual bot known as BUzz.

Remembering Former BU President Jon Westling

Jon Westling, a motorcycle-riding scholar of medieval European history, onetime Freedom Rider, and president emeritus of Boston University, died last week at age 77. Westling’s career at BU spanned 46 years and included several top leadership posts, although his most lasting avocation was teaching students about the history of Europe. He came to the University in 1974 to work on a project to produce films for the US Bicentennial. While that project never materialized, John Silber (Hon.’95), then BU president, took notice of the 32-year-old and drew him into his administration. He was named provost in 1984, and later became executive vice president. Westling (Hon.’03) served as president of the University from 1996 to 2002.
