You take the side of continuing ignorance, when you take the side of shielding people from things they need to know and understand to grow and be healthy and be dynamic, you usually lose. it doesn t mean that you will lose, but you usually lose. that is why the rest of us have to recognize this as a fundamental threat to the kind of democratic society many of us want to see. we cannot accept bigotry and ignorance in our schools. we cannot accept these bans on books. we cannot accept the false idea that if we expose young people to do ideas that are complicated and different, that somehow is a bad thing for them. i am hoping that we see coming out of the next year or two, but it will be a struggle. it will take a lot of people, a lot of sectors, to give a voice to the wrongfulness of some of what you re seeing in some of these education debates. the great brian stevenson, thank you very much for coming to this saturday show, and thank you for coming back. my pleasure, jonathan. and still to come,
