Yoplait donates $75K refrigerated trailer truck to Cadillac's Feeding America branch

CADILLAC — Feeding America West Michigan is fresh off one of the busiest years they've ever experienced.
Lorrie Hockanson, Feeding America West Michigan branch manager, said in her 12 years with the organization, she's never seen as much need as she did in 2020.
"It was crazy," Hockanson said. "In a good way. It's good that we can get this food out to people who need it."
When Hockanson started at Feeding America, she said they had five or six mobile food pantry distribution events a month; in 2020, she said they held a distribution event in area counties almost every day; and already this year, Hockanson said they're averaging around 15 distributions a month.

General Mills 'to offload European Yoplait rights to Sodiaal'

Yoplait reported to be subject of new deal
General Mills has reportedly decided to sell the European arm of yogurt business Yoplait to co-shareholder Sodiaal, the French dairy cooperative.
The French newspaper
Les Echos has reported an agreement between the two companies, which have owned Yoplait together for almost a decade.
just-food has approached General Mills and Sodiaal for comment. A spokesperson for General Mills said the US company does not "comment on rumours and journalist speculations". Sodiaal said it had no comment on the report.
In October, the same newspaper reported General Mills was mulling starting a process to sell its majority stake in yogurt business Yoplait and had asked Morgan Stanley to advise the company on its options.

Chobani is now making non-Greek yogurt, becoming the same kind of company as Dannon and Yoplait (GIS) — Quartz

July 3, 2017This article is more than 2 years old.
Twelve years ago, Hamdi Ulukaya introduced Greek yogurt to the American market, which disrupted the very settled yogurt industry and ended with Chobani becoming the top-selling US brand. Now, he’s making the same type of yogurt he worked so hard to overthrow.
Chobani is calling its new Smooth brand, which comes in five flavors and contains a bit more protein and milk, “American-style” yogurt. It arrives in a packed dairy aisle that has become one of the most competitive corners of the supermarket in recent years.
In the last two decades, the US yogurt industry has experienced tremendous change. As Americans sought yogurts with more protein and healthier ingredients, entrenched companies such as General Mills and Dannon—the US arm of French yogurt giant Danone—lost market share, first to Chobani’s Greek yogurt and then to a handful of other upstarts. Earlier this year, Chobani as a company surpassed General Mills‘ Yoplait in market share, giving it the second most after Dannon.
