Voters say farming is Florida's most important industry

Florida voters say agriculture is the most important industry in the state, and they think the state’s farmers and ranchers are doing a pretty good job, too.
A new poll commissioned by the Florida Ag Coalition found 98% of Florida voters believe farming and ranching are key cogs in Florida’s economy.
Hard data backs up the sentiment — Florida farmers contribute $140 billion a year to the state’s economy and support 2 million jobs.
But farming and ranching were seen as important by broader margins than other major Sunshine State industries, such as tourism (96%) or construction and development (94%).

Sunburn — The morning read of what’s hot in Florida politics — 3.12.21
Good Friday morning.
According to a new poll released by
Ryan Tyson of The Tyson Group, Florida voters support several measures pitched as improving election security and voter access.
The poll, commissioned by nonpartisan nonprofit Secure Democracy, found more than three-quarters of Floridians want ballot drop boxes to be monitored either in-person or by video.
The proposal earned 77% among the 600 voters polled, with Republicans backing it at a higher rate (83%) than Democrats or no-party voters.
Meanwhile, nearly seven in 10 said they want their family members or caregivers to be able to turn in a ballot on their behalf. A near equal number (67%) want more days of early voting, while most (57%) want the state to tell felons what fines they need to pay to regain voting rights.

New Poll Finds Majority of Republican Voters Lost Faith in Elections

New Poll Finds Majority of Republican Voters Lost Faith in Elections
A majority of Republican voters—67 percent—across the country believe the 2020 presidential election was invalid, according to a new poll [1] by the R Street Institute and the Tyson Group. Seventy-five percent of respondents also oppose alternative voting methods like vote-by-mail and voter drop boxes.
“In the wake of the contentious November 2020 election, it’s more important than ever to defend the principles that underpin our democracy. That starts with understanding voters’ feelings about the legitimacy and administration of the election,” said Jonathan Bydlak, interim director of the R Street Institute’s governance program. “Following Donald Trump’s loss, a significant portion of the electorate, primarily Republican voters, still distrust our election systems.”

Majority of Republicans say 2020 election was invalid: poll

Former President Trump and his allies claimed that he won the 2020 election in a “landslide” but that it was stolen from him through systemic fraud.
The Trump campaign lost dozens of lawsuits aiming to nullify Democratic votes or overturn the outcome in key swing states that President Biden
This week, the Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to Pennsylvania’s expansion of mail balloting during the pandemic.
Trump’s election fraud claims preceded the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob trying to disrupt the Electoral College vote count. Trump’s claims have torn Republicans apart, with some saying the focus on fraud cost the GOP the Georgia Senate runoff elections and ultimately the Senate majority.
