More than three decades later,
Tremors stars Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross reunited for a new commercial promoting the Verizon phone service Visible. After upgrading the "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon" to "12 Degrees," Bacon invites nearly everyone he knows to join him on Visible, and that includes his old pal from

One of the most inventive horror films for many a moon was directed and co-written by John Krasinski, star of the US version of The Office and the TV take on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Krasinksi also appears in one of the lead roles here, alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt. They play Lee and Evelyn Abbott who are battling to keep themselves and their children alive in terrifying circumstances: most of the world’s population has been wiped out by carnivorous blind creatures that are hypersensitive to noise, a trait which allows them to hone in on potential victims at super-fast speed. Matters come to a head for the Abbotts when pregnant Evelyn goes into labour while alone at the deserted house they now call home. Noah Jupe, the young British star who recently appeared in The Undoing, also stars. A sequel is set to be released later this year.

After dubbing the parasite the “tingler”, Chapin concludes that in extreme circumstances, prolonged fear causes the organism to injure a person’s spine and even become fatal if the victim cannot scream.

The film follows good-ol’-boy handymen Val (Bacon) and Earl (Ward) who are sick of their dead-end jobs in Perfection, Nevada. Just as they’re about to escape Perfection forever, however, things start to get really weird: half-eaten corpses litter the road out of town; the phone lines stop working, and a plucky young scientist shows evidence of unusually strong seismic activity in the area. Something is coming for the citizens of Perfection… and it’s under the goddamn ground!

The notion that terrible films are often funny for being so inept is certainly applicable in the sci-fi or horror genres. But how can the worst comedies be funny in their failure to be funny? Therein lies the paradox and the reason why bad comedies are usually just plain bad.
Nevertheless, it's been said that anything worth doing is worth doing badly—comedy is certainly no exception. With this in mind, Stacker compiled IMDb and Metacritic data on all comedy movies with more than 2,500 votes on IMDb and ranked them by Stacker score, an equally weighted index between Metascore and IMDb user rating, with #1 being the worst. Ties were broken by Metascore and further ties were broken by IMDb user rating. If a movie did not have a Metascore, it was not considered.

Tremors did absolutely terribly in theaters but was given a second shot at success by the early video rental market. It found its fans and they have demanded 6 sequels, a short lived TV show and several cancelled video game adaptations. It’s spawned a small cottage industry of fan conventions, tchotchkes, and apparel. It’s a fun and perfectly paced movie with well defined and motivated characters, monsters whose movements underground are indicated by clever earth shaking effects, shocking and funny death scenes by both villagers and Graboids alike, and even a cameo by John Goodman.
