this heat. we're looking at excessive heat warnings, austin down to corpus christi, new orleans, tallahassee, tampa, so many spots under an excessive heat warning, and that's because we're going to see temperatures into the 90s, once again into the 100s. you factor in the humidity. some spots feel like 117. that is just unbearable and down right dangerous. we're looking at records breaking once again today. dallas 105. you have been socked in with that heat. houston 103. 97 in tallahassee. the record there is 99. we're going to get pretty close. tomorrow we notice these temperatures don't budge. we're staying right around the 106 degree mark. houston you're hot too, 104, could tie or break the record of 104. corpus christi into the triple digits. same story to the southeast. the southeast, you've broken so many records, especially along the western coast of florida. orlando today 98 degrees. miami, 94, the record there is 96 degrees. you factor in the humidity, it's going to feel very, very hot. it's not just the southern

per hour. we're looking at localized totals over 4 inches. that's the stormy side. we'll continue to watch that all through out this afternoon into this evening. then we have the heat side that priscilla was talking about. 72 million americans across the south. once again looking at dangerous heat from southern california into the southwest. the south central states, the gulf coast states, the southeast and up into the carolinas. we have excessive heat warning. that's the hot pink, phoenix, waco, dallas, houston, monroe, birmingham, jacksonville. a lot of cities under this extensive heat warning. temperatures soaring into the triple digits once again. that's 5-15 degrees above what is typical for this time of year. lindsey, we could see records falling once again. dallas, 104 today. the record there is 104. that will probably fall. we'll see spots feeling like 115 in places. >> michelle grossman, thank you.

tornadoes. let's get to cnn meteorologist allison chinchar in the weather center. that is everything all at once. >> yes, i was going to say, someone has something going on at some point today, and that may be the heat, the storms, it may be flooding, let's take a look. we begin with the heat. we have these heat alerts that stretch from california, all the way over to florida, so no we're not each talking one or two states here. there's a lot of folks impacted. we're starting to see the temperatures already rise. but keep in mind when you factor in the heat and the humidity together, you get the feels like temperature, it is 11:00 in the morning in the eastern portion of the country, folks. it feels like 104 right now, in new orleans, and 105 in pensacola, tampa feels like 106. and again, in tampa, it is only 11:00 in the morning, and it already feels like it is 106. out to the west, it is not going to be much better. we will top out at 111 today in tucson and 115 in phoenix and 108 in vegas, a lot of these are

games i'm stressed thinking about it. all right, talking about the weather this looks a lot better than it did, these heat alerts than what we were dealing with last week and still got 37 million people under these alerts stretching from basically wichita to oklahoma city and down through dallas out to new orleans. the southwest not included in this, parts of the southeast not included in this. but still some record breaking temperatures are out there for parts of the south here as we get into the afternoon hours today. one of those spots being dallas heads to 107. that would tie a record for today, and doesn't get a lot better for tomorrow either. houston 103, that record 104. when we look up to the east and north west, we finally got back to average conditions like places in new york and low 80s and major improvements in d.c. low to mid-80s and end up in the high 80s by the time saturday rolls around but we've also got showers and thunderstorms to talk about. this morning most of that is focused off towards the rockies and we could be talking about
