(Journal photo by Justin Marietti) MARQUETTE — Thomas Theatre Group’s Marquette Cinemas is open for business once again. The theater, along with theaters across the country, have been plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic over the last year. With Gov. Gretchen Whitmer lifting her ban on indoor dining and concessions at movie theaters and casinos, Marquette Cinemas is now able to open on the weekends with full concession service, according to TTG President Tom Andes.

This may be the motivation that compelled ABS-CBN Films and Cineko Productions to push through with another instalment of the Mang Kepweng franchise. Synopsis: Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim reunites fans with Mang Kepweng (Vhong Navarro), the faith healer who was given the power of the bandanang pula (red scarf) to heal people and fight the bad guys in the first movie. However, he becomes a local celebrity and grows drunk with his success. As a result, the magic scarf begins to lose its power. A villain named Maximus Tolonges (Joross Gamboa) enters the picture to steal a powerful black bandana from Encadia. The bandana is powerful enough to bring illness and hardship to both the human and fairy realm and Mang Kepweng is the only one who can stop him.
