the leader may feel differently than say your average rank and file member out there who may represent a different kind of constituency. so i think it really might be very dependent on who they are and what their responsibilities are. i think overall what you're hearing out of republicans is happiness with the court. you know, really these 6-3 decisions are exactly what conservatives had envisioned when donald trump got his appointments, and they're thrilled basically overall with the direction of it today and throughout this last couple of weeks, so i'm not surprised they're shying away from a couple of them, but on the whole i think you're getting republicans frankly euphoring about what's happened here. >> karen finny, let's get your thoughts. take a listen to president biden's defense when asked if he gave borrowers of these student loans false hope now that the supreme court has blocked his forgiveness program. listen to this. >> i didn't give any false hope. the question was whether or not

their fear of crime, republicans talking about the idea of being unsafe. and for many although it's lower on that cnn chart we pulled out in the poll, this is still part of the biggest talking point in the country, right, crime. >> absolutely. karen, i know you worked on the north carolina senate race. i'm from north carolina. if you watch a college football game north carolina is playing nc state or something like that. that's in a couple weeks. you're going to see a lot of ads on crime. and if he's not talking about crime he's talking about the economy. it's why i watched the biden speech today some sort of mystified sense about why he was doing this and doing it today. i thought it was a good speech politically. i thought it was a good speech how it was delivered. i agree with a lot of what biden says on these election deniers that are taking over county boards and obviously states. but politics is about people, and people are concerned about what's happening to them every day of their lives, and that's when they go to the grocery store, when they go to the gas
the details that has come out is that there are security cameras around the pelosi home, can they have a live feed to the capitol police back in d.c., but no one was monitoring that feed because the speaker wasn't at her home in san francisco, so it took them ten minutes to realize that a crime was under way. so obviously they need a security review to figure out what to do differently. >> it's funny you think about that and it's not entirely clear whether the officers would have responded maybe even sooner. who knows, the idea think of the cost incurred and what is required and the sheer scope of the problem. i mean, we see what happens when capitol police officers are outnumbered, and you think about the notion of just the scope of toxicity happening right now. i mean, how many officers is it going to take and surveillance to bring this temperature down? let's talk about it with my panel here. i've got alex burns, karen finny, and doug hie. when you think about the capitol police were monitoring but
2024. if i might respond to karen, though, on the merits of the argument for the general election, you can always tell people who don't have confidence in their policies when they completely lie about what they're calling them, the inflation reduction act. that's the label they put on this bill that they now placed all their hopes and dreams for the general election. not a single, nonpartisan credible analysis of this bill says it will reduce inflation. it is going to raise taxes and hire a bunch of irs agents and going to spend a bunch of money we don't have. but they called it the inflation reduction act. anybody who has been to the store lately knows that's a bunch of garbage. so i'm just saying, karen, if you're going to run on a bill, call it what it is, the democrat wish list act. nothing to do with inflation. >> it was build back better up until, what, a couple weeks ago? >> up until they changed the title of it so joe manchin could lie to the people of west virginia. that's what it was. >> karen, go ahead. >> we're talking about serious deficit reduction. we're talking about lowering
