Smith and her family in the Beaconsdale neighborhood of Newport News face the aftermath of a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon. “We were expecting it. We didn’t expect it to last as long as it did," she said, adding she definitely did not expect it to cause as much damage as it did.

Erickson will move from his current 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm slot and the station’s early evening host Mark Arum will take over the 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm program.
