of a trump versus biden? almost all of them, dozens of conversations that over the last two weeks i've been here. almost all say, don't probably just stay home at general election. i do think that is a striking thing. if you think how voters are metabolizing this, they say voters are looking at each other, but there is a general election at the end of this primary. if you want to talk about what side to bring, bring a one. voters will be exhausted by what they have been through in this primary, and if they're getting a matchup again. on the republican side, people are unhappy about that. >> they may not be meteorologist, but they can forecast. ali and ron, thank you so much. next, it looks like the government will stay open for now. republicans are just kicking the can down the road. you are watching the weekend. stay with us. stay with us

tomorrow, iowa voters will have to brave dangerous, potentially life-threatening cold to go to the caucuses. we checked the highs in des moines for every caucus day since the first one in 1972. as you can see on your screen, tomorrow is shaping up to be the coldest ever. our meteorologist is tracking just how bad it's going to get. tell us, alison. >> that's right. i think is to note, iowans are hardy people, but these temperatures are extreme, even for them. when we look at the highs, you're talking 4 degrees below zero. not much better in davenport with just 3 below zero for the high. one thing they all have in common, these temperatures are about 30 degrees below normal, even for this time of year. to put this in perspective, we know it's a cold place. but even the high, tomorrow of minus 4 in des moines, is going to be colder than the high in anchorage, alaska.

fulfilling their federal enforcement duties. the justice department went to the supreme court, asking them to intervene and texas has since responded saying that they will address the situation. but this is just the latest escalation in this ongoing dispute and it all underscores that this is an issue that the white house can't escape. it is a political vulnerability for them and one not only one that they need to work through in congress for the president's foreign policy agenda, but also one that caused tension with states and endemocratic allies who have been receiving migrants from texas following yet another one of the governor's actions. so all of this coming to a head this week as the president himself says he is open to changes. what those are, still unclear. >> all right, priscilla alvarez, thank you so much. straight ahead, a vicious storm creating historic coastal flooding along the northeast. we'll discuss with the lead meteorologist for the national weather service after this.
