we'll take a live look at the shot of the sun coming up over boston. finally after a week of heavy storms, but it is a very different story across much of the southeast. let's bring in meteorologist jennifer delgado at the cnn weather center. >> good morning, martin. it's a new day there in boston. 76 degrees. a lot of sunshine in boston. but rain is going to be heavy in parts of the southeast. once again, we're expecting to some of these locations to pick up a couple inches of rainfall today and tomorrow. we're talking four to six inches has already fallen in parts of georgia and florida. in fact, we have video coming out of alabama. this is to the west of montgomery. you're looking at people driving through flooded roadways. martin and brianna, we say this all the time, don't drive through flooded streets. that could certainly be deadly. back to the radar. the rain is works its way to the

there. let's take a look at atlanta. as you're fly into the region, rain showers and heavier rainfall in the south. let's take you to the graphic. here say look at what we're talking about. this is the radar. a lot of heavy rain out there. this is going to be mean round after round of shower activity. some of these locations we're talking four to six inches. we'll get to that in just a moment. we'll send it back over to you two. >> jennifer, thank you very much. you know it's been almost three months since that monster tornado tore through moore, oklahoma. you remember it. it killed 24 people, that included seven children at an elementary school. triggered emotional reunions for survivors and their parents. >> it's painful to watch. this week, students in moore returned to those classrooms. and many were anxious about how school might be different after the tornado.

about the panhandle of florida as well as even to areas, including the very tip of louisiana. here are some of the watches out there. we have the saturated ground anywhere in green. we'll see a lot of these watches in effect until tomorrow. and we're still following the tropics. we have an area of low pressure right in the gulf coast -- i should say the gulf of mexico. you can see all the convection and thunderstorms to the northeast of that. well, it's not very well organized, but it still has a 40% chance of development. we'll continue to follow that and, of course, as we follow over the west, we are following the fires burning across parts of idaho, and it looks like we have red flag warnings in place today. that means wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. weather is certainly not cooperating across that region, but in the northeast it's real nice out there, guys. temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees below average and lots of sunshine in place. back over to you two. >> jennifer, thank you very much. the search for a missing teen growing desperate today in virginia. 17-year-old alexis murphy has been missing for two weeks.

"usa today" reports one home has burned to the ground and a second has been damaged. from fire to heavy rain, the possibility of flash flooding. >> let's bring in meteorologist jennifer delgado. >> good morning, guys. another wet weekend across parts of the southeast. looking at the radar, the rain is coming down and heavy at times across parts of florida as well as into georgia just to the south of atlanta. let's show you a live shot of atlanta and hopefully we have the windshield pipers on our camera because it is wet out there. it's going to be a soggy weekend ahead for some locations. we're talking the possibility of maybe even six inches of rain. back over to our graphics here. as we talk a bit more about the rain that's going to be happening today, it's going to be coming down in some of these locations. we're talking about a flooding threat. that's why we have a lot of flood watches in place but look what's in the area in red. this is where we're talking about the possibility of 6 or more inches of rainfall. that's why we're so concerned

video. is shows car being literally swept away. look at that. that's crazy. firefighters say the waters reached speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. meteorologist jennifer delgado is here in the severe weather center, and that's some scary pictures. >> scary pictures. that's something we typically see coming out of monsoon season say out of yand with all the rushing water there. they picked up 1.5 inches of rainfall in a very short amount of time but the terrain made the situation worse because the water came down the mountain and the region is recovering from a wildfire the year before, so there was nothing for that water to held onto. so basically all the water just swept through the channel. you can see the burn scar. this is what we talk about, the flooding there, the video of the rushing water, and why we say you never travel through a flooded street. but back over to our graphic here very quickly. what you're seeing in red, carol, this is actually vegetation this is alive. what you're seeing in green, this is the vegetation that was killed in the wildfire the year
