was sweltpt away by the blanco river. they have identified the body of michelle charba on wednesday. jennifer gray has more. >> reporter: eight people still missing that were swept away by the blanco river over the weekend. three people have been identified. one person is pending identification. of course michelle charba was found. she is the latest person to be identified. unfortunately unfortunately, her husband and son as well as her parents are missing. we have been hearing so much about jonathan mccomb. he actually was okay. he is in the hospital recovering. he does have serious injuries. he is expected to make a full recovery. the rest of his family his wife and two kids are still missing as well. it has been a gut-wrenching couple of days for the people in wimberley as the crews continue the clean up along the banks.
conference where the grieving families expressed hope and thanks. jennifer tough to hear from them. >> reporter: yeah i mean it was a tough day. here we are going on day five. these four families are needing any bit of -- they're holding on to hope even though they are starting to lose hope at the same time. they're trying to keep their spirits high but they also know the reality of what happened that night. it was tough, seeing them standing back there. they didn't speak, but they did stand behind the podium. you know your heart goes out to them because it took a lot of strength to do that. it took a lot of heart to do that. you know, they're just waiting to hear. the pieces of new information that we did hear though eight missing, four fatalities. three of those have been identified. one is still pending identification. the latest person to be identified was michelle charba. the rest of her family is still missing, including her husband, her son, and her parents.

jennifer gray meteorologist, joining us from austin. one of the hardest-hit areas. jennifer what are you seeing right now? >> reporter: yeah wolf. in wimberley we've been lucky throughout the day today, because we haven't had those really strong storms. a couple showers pass by nothing too major. you can still see the blanco river behind me just looking at it is haunting knowing the stories that came out of here through the weekend. in fact eight people still missing. four faytalityiesfatalities. three identified. michelle charba found. she is the latest person to be identified. unfortunately, though the rest of her family is still missing including her husband, son and her parents. then the story of jonathan mccomb, recovering in a hospital should make a full recovery. unfortunately, the rest of his family that was swept away is still missing as well. all of this and still getting new pictures in from what happened that weekend makes it even more scary.
lone wolves. so this big question that lingers lingers, how is our national security going to be at risk? it just depends on whom you ask. the white house's take is why allow any risk especially when the privacy concerns can be addressed through this bipartisan bill that's already been passed through the house. that's what the white house wants it this senate to pass. >> they assume it will happen, at least an extension for a few days, michelle, because we heard jen psaki, the white house communications director say there is no plan "b" right now that the white house has if it isn't extended. >> reporter: right, exactly. and they're calling this legal limbo, that if these expirations do happen it's going to throw the whole system into these legal questions even for current cases. that they're going to have to see if it's still legal. even the grand fathering in of the warrants that have already been obtained officials say even that is thrown into question in addition because of lawsuits recently on some of these programs. >> michelle kosinski at the white house for us. thank you.
since the tragic flooding we've joined in a search effort to find the loved ones trapped in the house on the blanco river. many of you heard accounts of that evening. here's what we know now. jonathan mccomb is treated for injuries at a san antonio hospital. physically he's expected to make a fulle recovery though emotionally he has a long road ahead and will need the love and support of all of us. at this time jonathan's wife laura mccomb and their two children andrew and leighton are still missing. yesterday afternoon, we received word that the body of michelle charba had been found. michelle's husband randy, their son will and parents ralph and sue kerry are still missing.
and when it rains, that creates a problem. first of all, you don't want fluctuation in the liver level because of all of the debris they are sifting through. down the river, they have debris piles as tall as these trees they're going through. more rain it displaces some debrie and makes it really challenging. three people identified one pending identification and one of the most recent ones we learned about today was michelle charba found the rest of her family unfortunately missing. her husband, son and her parents. they told us today these crews will be out no matter what and will keep searching until the rest of the victims are found, jake. >> jennifer it's not just south texas getting the severe weather. the right? >> reporter: absolutely. in fact we had a tornado in the panhandle yesterday. in fact three people were injured from that. it hit an oil rig area and hit
so mr. mccomb, your son jonathan was able to recount the harrowing tale of how that home broke up. can you tell me what we know about the other families and whom among them are missing and who -- whether there are children, adults. can you paint the picture of who else was in that home? >> well, ralph and sue kerry, a retired dentist. it was their home and their daughter michelle. that's the other couple, michelle and randy charba. michelle is kerry's daughter. and then randy and michelle's son will and jonathan, laura and their two kids were in the house. there were nine of them in the house. jonathan is the only one accounted for. the other eight are unaccounted for. it's a devastation because you're talking two generations of that family that are unaccounted for. mom and the dad and the daughter
and grandchild. >> so the -- you said ralph and sue kerry, i think it was and randy and michelle charba and their son will as well as your daught daughter-in-law and lleyton and andrew. >> yes. >> our hearts go out to you, mr. mccomb, i'm so sorry we're meeting under these circumstances. i hope you can update us with good news. i know they're out there searching. there are many people doing this job to try to find them and the others who are missing. thank you for being with us and thank you for telling us their story. >> thank you. >> joe mccomb joining us from texas. just unbelievable. we send our good wishes to his son jonathan for a recovery as he tries to deal with what he's dealing with in the hospital, his injuries and of course this mystery, these missing family members and friends. we'll take you back to cleveland after the break as that protest starts to gather steam. hundreds in the streets.
