police? are you hearing from the michigan state community? >> absolutely. i've spoken with the chair of faculty senate. i'm the vice chair of faculty senate. i was spoken with my colleagues, in academic governance, i spoke with other faculty members, have reach out to me, we were all just trying to remain connected, now to the situation, intern courage each other and to our parents, where worrying, i totally and understand that i to have a sunday michigan state university. we want our parents to know, that we are doing everything within our power, to make sure that their babies are safe. >> do you feel safe right now? do you think your son is safe? >> i do believe that our students, are following the guidelines. they are sheltering in place. and for that, i'm grateful.

someone opened fire in berkey hall, which is an app academic building multiple law enforcement calls were made, enforcement arrived on the scene within minutes and with an almost immediately that suspect moved to another building, which has a cafeteria and rex center, more shootings took place with one other victim, we know there are three confirmed dead and four people being treated in hospital. who -- police have released a photo of the suspect, a male, short in stature, wearing a ball cap, he appears to be african american. a jean-jacques, it dark black jeans, red sneakers. we are awaiting surveillance video. east lansing law enforcement, atf, fbi, are working together on the scene, the shooter, the suspect is still a large. the entire campus and community are currently on lockdown, with
where we had 500 agents and police, surrounding an area. we thought we had a cop killer lockdown, and he slipped right through the cordon on foot in the middle of the night. other times, when they slip by. it's easy for them to get out, the area is so large, they novak, ali it's darkness, it's right when the police are responding, who trying to take care of the victims, trying to find out what's happening, it scales for the officers when they arrive, it's fog of war, when you get to these places. i was uniformed policemen, and go to shootings and stuff, we really don't know what's going on. you don't know who's who. you don't know -- people are running, people are screaming, people are pointing, the telling information. you try to relay that information to other officers, you're sergeant, lieutenant. it's very chaotic, we called the fog of war. it takes time to start things through, they've done a good job organizing, steph, as you pointed out how they're evacuating the students.
everyone in the area being requested, to shelter in place. all activity on campus has been canceled for the next 48 hours. the shooter is still at large. i want to bring in our june tucker, a reporter in front of a uk they are atf from michigan state university. thank you for being here, tell us all you know about tonight. >> well, it's been a very chaotic night for students and community members here, there's been a lot of conflicting reports, information coming out, folks are listening in on the scanner here, information has been coming slowly, and as far as we're aware, we're still learning more information, and the suspect's still -- has not been found yet by the on campus police yet. >> how far you from campus
stacked up outside, can i move them into this building? is that clear? and warm, so we can put them there now. so all of this happening, and i can hear state troopers, i can hear michigan state pd, i can hear east lansing pd. clearly a combined partnership, they've path us this, they rehearsed it. but the challenge of finding this individual, and clearing a campus of the size is monumental. that's why you're hearing fbi, atf, in addition to all the police agencies. i mentioned it is monumental, if it is even still on campus. >> in the last few minutes, frank, we've seen students standing aside, we've heard from the p.i.o. inching everyone on campus shelter in place, and police are on that scene, instructing those students to get back in the dorms. how dangerous is this. i mean, it's the middle of the night, it's freezing cold, and this is the campus me --
