The Worst Ted Cruz Moments in History | Dallas Observer

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is a pioneer of modern politics. The junior senator of the Lone Star State defied the odds to become the most unpopular member of the U.S. Senate, a body of people whose collective approval rating falls below hemorrhoids, traffic jams, root canals and Nickelback.
So why should we be surprised when the least-liked person in such an unpopular body of men and women does something that Ted Cruz would do — like fly off to Cancun while his state struggles with a killer winter storm? And why should we be surprised that when he came back in a pandering Texas face mask and blamed his own kids for the trip? And why should we even look moderately shocked when he made a joke about a rotten thing HE did in a CPAC speech in Florida? ("I gotta say, Orlando is awesome. It's not as nice as Cancun. But it's nice." Oh yes, he did.)

Ted Cruz Mocked Again Over Cancun Trip As Texas Panhandle Faces Tornado Warning

Ted Cruz Mocked Again Over Cancun Trip As Texas Panhandle Faces Tornado Warning
03/13/21 AT 2:49 PM
Ted Cruz faced a lot of backlash after it was revealed he has flown to Cancun for a trip with his family as Texans struggled with freezing cold temperatures and power outages following winter storms, and now, with a new natural disaster and weather threat approaching the region, the senator is once again receiving heat for his previous actions.
As news of a weather system that could dump snow on Colorado and bring rain and a moderate risk of tornadoes to the Texas panhandle and Western Oklahoma began to circulate, Cruz, who was seen flying to Cancun during the state’s winter storms, quickly found himself ridiculed over his past behavior.

Cruz's CPAC Speech Attacks Mask-Wearing As Virtue Signaling

Cruz's CPAC Speech Attacks Mask-Wearing As Virtue Signaling
02/26/21 AT 4:56 PM
Sen. Ted Cruz punctuated his speech at CPAC with attacks on mask-wearing and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. This year’s Conservative Political Action Conference kicked up a stir for inviting Trump and snubbing his enemies.
Cruz’s most notable remarks at the Orlando event on Friday came during a speech to conservative activists in which he attacked anti-COVID-19 measures as inconsistent and ineffective, CNBC reports. He gave the example of restaurants that require masks but allow patrons to remove them while eating.
"Now they're saying, everybody can get immunized, we can have herd immunity everywhere, and we're going to wear masks for the next 300 years," Cruz said. "And by the way, not just one mask, two, three, four. You can't have too many masks. How much virtue do you want to signal? This is just dumb."

CPAC speaker Ted Cruz: What to know about the Texas senator

Cruz immediately flew back to Texas and later acknowledged that his trip was "obviously a mistake."
With his appearance at CPAC, Cruz will likely attempt to change the narrative. The senator is considered a likely candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. He ran for president in 2016 but lost to Donald Trump.
Cruz also spoke at last year’s CPAC, which took place in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. He was later forced to self-quarantine after coming in contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.
Cruz has served in the Senate since 2013. He was reelected in 2018 after fending off a tough challenge from Democratic upstart Beto O'Rourke, who broke fundraising records during the campaign. In January 2020, he was one of several GOP lawmakers who objected to Joe Biden’s victory in the Electoral College.

Cruz was a guest on the podcast to discuss the winter storm in Texas, the state of President Joe Biden’s nominees to top administration posts, and of course, his widely condemned Cancun vacation which was cut short last week.
