that. particularly because one of the things that romney is selling is -- well two things if you will. one is the aura of inevitably he will be the nominee and electability that he is the best candidate to go up against barack obama in the fall. if he can't carry his home state, the state he grew up in and the state his father was governor of for three terms if he can't carry that in a republican primary, what chance does he have in a general election in the fall in michigan against barack obama? this would be devastating to his campaign. he knows it. he is spending a lot of money longer. >> yeah, but if you look at just mathematically, it is kind of early. if one candidate picked up every delegate they could not win the majority which is 1144. it's kind of depressing that i know that fact and can recite it. in late april and given the fact that it's being split, romney has the lead but it's being split up, this race will go into may and you can say, well, okay that's mathematically but they will drop out given the volatility of this race, the fact that gingrich has been the front runner twice and down twice. santorum is having his time in the sun. and then super tuedsay a week from tuesday is almost certain to be a very mixed result with gingrich winning in some southern states. romney in some northeastern states and maybe santorum takes a mid western states. i think almost certainly this race goes on into may, we are still in february, so it is still early still. >> at least it keeps it interesting to watch. also on your program today, indiana governor mitch daniels who again this weekend said no, i'm not interested. i'm not running for the republican nomination no matter what you say. >> well, i know. this gets to this question of it being early. you look at the polls and people are growing increasingly dissatisfied with this republican field. i think in part because it's been so negative and personal. instead of building them up and elevating them, the race tends to diminish them all. let's write a quick scenario. if romney loses michigan and only ahead in the polls by a couple of points if he were to lose michigan there are some republican leaders who say these guys are all damaged goods that santorum and beginningrism certainly have wide margins to obama that romney said he is fragile. can't carry his home state and they will start looking around for somebody else to get into this race, mitch daniels will be on that list, chris christie is on the list, jeb bush, they say no, but you know, circumstances could change wednesday morning if there is an upset in michigan. what you could then get is nobody gets a majority and we end up at the convention in august in tampa and a contested convention with everybody circling around with less than a majority of votes. it always makes it interesting to watch. thanks again for your time. >> you bet, thank you. you can catch fox news sunday at 9:00 a.m. right after every award she has gotten and deserves the academy award. she will win and should win. >> good. so let's go to best actress now. >> this is going to be an interesting category. this is where the oscars actually get exciting because we honestly don't know who will win this category on sunday. i have an incling it will be viola davis. she won the sag award. now meryl streep won the golden globe. a very -- you don't know what's going to happen there. i think out of the five i think michelle williams deserves the award. her performance as marilyn monroe. she captured her essence -- i was taking notes during the movie and any time she was on screen i didn't look down. i was scribbling on my paper. that's how good she is. viola davis, a beautiful performance. i think she does deserve to win. a win i believe for her on sunday. meryl streep has been nominated 17 times. her last win was in 1982 for sophie's choice. they might go that route but i will go with viola for my pick. michelle williams deserved it. >> best actor. >> another interesting category. now, try -- gene duejureden is the lead star -- jean dujardin. he is the -- he is nominated for his performance in the artist. george clooney is up as well. clooney and him are the two front runners. i think -- i personally feel that jean dujardin because the artist has insane momentum and it will take home best picture. but clooney has good momentum als well. if i had to pick right now, i would say that jean will take it but a possibility that george will. jean deserves it because by saying so little he emotionally connected to the audience and with little dialogue. that's an important characteristic. you know who should be in this category, andy circus to played lead ape. he deserves this award. >> how about best director? your favorite is i think a lot of people's favorites. >> here is the deal. over the years if you look back in 2005-2002, they split the award between the director and the picture. generally the best picture matches best director. those four times it did not. spielberg won director for "saving private ryan" but not best picture. i have a feeling they will split it between scorsese. scorsese deserves every award for best director. revolution ielzed 3-d and told a love letter in his voice. i think he will win and should win. hopefully they split it up. >> best movie? >> the artist. unfortunately. listen, i admire the artist it was a fantastic film, well acted, well directed. i felt like hugo was the better love letter to film making and it's a shame that drive is not in this category. drive should be nominated. why give nine nominations. give a tenth one to drive. it's ridiculous. athest will take home best picture. >> safe choice though in silence, it's artsy safe option. >> we will find out for sure what will happen on sunday. >> and follow me at twitter. i will be tweeting during the oscars and you can tweet me any questions you have about any movies this weekend. so go see act of valor. it's awesome. >> back to you guys. we were saying last night that kevin should get an award for his enthusiasm. >> and i think the great thing is as we were talking about a lot of times you don't get time to catch up on all of the oscar movies then you know which ones are really worth your time and money to see. >> it's going to be an exciting night. i
