A lot has been written about Emmy Award-winner Jason Sudeikis’ beloved character (you guys, Good Housekeeping has a Ted Lasso take) — a character that America (and I) first fell in love with last fall.
I know, because I’ve read all of it (and even wrote some of it). After watching an advance copy of all of season 2 — which lived up to and exceeded all of my expectations — I’m left fixated on one single thing:

The other day I was feeling pretty low. Call it pandemic fatigue, burnout, or hitting the wall, a lot of people are feeling the same way right now.  I hadn’t left the house in a few days and my body was feeling the effects. My brain, meanwhile, was on overdrive from too much screen time. I knew what I needed. For a long time I’d felt this deep craving — not for ice cream — for sunshine.

Casey Rebecca Nunes, the general manager at Smitten Ice Cream in Oakland, had signed up for every possible notification to alert her about vaccine appointments. But it wasn’t Alameda County, where she works, or San Francisco County, where she lives, that came through with the critical alert — instead, it was a bartender friend on Facebook.

In a brutal time for businesses all over the world, I’ve become all too familiar with the pang of sadness that inevitably comes with the news that one of my favorite bars or restaurants has closed forever.
I was, however, surprised when I found myself feeling bummed out when I heard the news that some electronics stores were closing. Rumors (which have been denied) followed that Fry’s Electronics, a chain of stores around the United States that sells household goods and electronics, was going bankrupt altogether. I’m only 70% sure this isn’t pandemic cabin fever talking, but I’m getting sentimental about Fry’s.
