about the circumstances surrounding her murder here? >> the murder when christine was murdered she was attacked outside. it sort of all happened outdoors. when this connection was made to the montgomery county assaults as you mentioned eight, seven rapes and one attempted assault, it was kind of different we saw an attacker who had started out in 1991 and in 1992 raping women in montgomery county and escalating as time went on becoming bolder and bolder and went from upscale homes to then attacking women allegedly as climbing up the middle of a townhouse unit to get inside to get to his victims. also sometimes children were even home. the detective that i spoke with today from montgomery county who's the lead on this investigation did make the connection through dna in late 2005, early 2006. that's when d.c. and maryland starting putting their heads together on both of these cases. >> michelle, this case is 13

drugs don't work and a very small percentage of those studies were actually published, christine. what we've got is a situation where people respond to the ordinary stresses of life and god knows we've got a lot of stresses now. but when they feel stressed, when they feel down, they and their doctors turn to a pill instead of looking at how their lives are unfolding. what we find when we put all the studies together of all the anti-depressants, it's only the most severely depressed people who get a benefit from the anti-depressants and then it's only one out of four of those very severely depressed people who actually benefit. >> meantime the other people are still either on their anti-depressants -- it's not as if the doctor maybe is changing their course of action and -- there's so many things to talk to you about. we're out of time. it's interesting as well when you talk about higher costs for health care in this country, what that means. we'll talk about it again soon, overdosed america, the book, thank you so much. really appreciate it. >> pleasure to be with you,

they condemned it. they praised the protesters and insisted the president get out, transfer power asap. the problem with the situation for the u.s. is they are so worried that as this spreads, there could be a political vacuum in the country, al qaeda operates there as a base and the u.s. doesn't have a whole lot of leverage. saudi arabia does. >> it bears a lot of watching. meanwhile, in serbia, suspected war criminal ratko mladic still sitting in a serbian jail. waiting to be extradited. any timetable for when that extradition might happen? >> that is the big question, christine. what's happening right now, there are stall tactics going on. his defense lawyer has said basically he needs another medical exam. he has specific health problems. they need to call in more specialists and he is not fit enough to face genocide charges in the hague. prosecutors are saying that's not true, he is absolutely. so they're going to wait for a verdict from the court in serbia today to see whether or not to

house. and ed, you know, he was in europe when the first days and frantic hours of the tornado rescue began. how do the people greet him a week on? >> that's right. good morning, christine. certainly a lot of pressure on the president. several days, just about a week had passed as you note since this terrible tragedy. this is an area of the country where the president lost to john mccain in 2008, and so he had to make that extra special effort to show he was going to get on top of this. i can tell you it seemed like there were a lot of standing ovations at that memorial service a lot of people grateful for the president coming in, and this is just utter devastation. i mean the president himself noting that he had just been in alabama where there had been tornado devastation. this eclipsed even that, which had been so awful, and a reporter on air force one with the president said that as they came in and saw it overhead, it almost looked like a giant had come in to this city with a lawn mower and shredded it and so when the president spoke at the memorial service, he wanted to

that newt gingrich is not a man of the people. and that's something that may or may not resonate with people. >> and democrats always get accused of getting $400 haircuts even though in the end we find out, well -- what was it bill clinton supposedly stopped an entire airport for a haircut. >> not supposedly. he got a haircut at l.a.x. and air traffic was stopped. >> i'm not saying these are good things that happen, but christine is right. they happen to sort of everybody. the media does do this. but you know what? the public likes it. the public likes these stories. >> i'm not so sure about that. >> i think they're a bit goofy. >> well, look, i think the problem for gingrich is this. the tiffany's story is more easily comprehensible than a story about medicare and some back-and-forth about what his position is. and this is a story that late-night comedians can latch on to and not let go of. >> let me get a break. when we come back, sarah pal palin's private e-mails publi published in a new book and messages on twitter leaked to a

we've seen the savings rate tick up in the united states. a new study by the national bureau of economic research showing that 50% of americans would struggle to come up with $2,000 in a pinch even in a minor emergency like a home repair. christine, this doesn't jive with what we've been seeing for two years now. the savings rate is being increased in america which means to me those who have some money are saving more and there are a whole lot of people, half of the population, who are saving nothing. >> reporter: data this week also showed that people are paying down their credit card debt. but paying down your debts and de-leveraging your personal balance sheet doesn't mean you have enough money saved yet. what happened was the housing bubble. and a housing bubble we are still feeling. people haven't built up the cash cushion well enough. and when you're talking about rising health care costs, the longer you're going to have to work before you retire, the rising cost of education, rising cost for all the things you put to feed your family -- it's really still a very serious situation for american families.

people get two weeks vacation and even then feel guilty about taking it. ask any ceo, do you want a workforce that is rested, engaged and focused? and then ask them, how do you expect people to do that if you let them have ten days' vacation a year? yes, ali, in this room behind me, everybody gets up to five weeks vacation, including national holidays, paid vacation -- don't do that. don't do that. >> my word, as you would say. that's smashing. i think it's time for us to gang up on christine. rules in canada are much more liberal. explain yourself, christine. >> reporter: we love to work in this country. but there are also some analysis of that same data that shows in some cases it's because people don't want to spend the money on a vacation. i guess they could stay home and take the day off.
