joining us is debbie's sister, good morning to you, celeste. >> good morning. >> we're so sorry for the struggle that your family has right now in not knowing where your sister is. what is the latest update that police have told you? i understand they'll have a press conference later today. >> yeah, i did talk to the police yesterday. basically, the press conference will be in regards to what we have talked to. just following up on leads right now. they're taking things slowly to make sure they don't miss anything talking to a lot of people that may have information in regards to her so they're doing a wonderful job right now trying to make sure that she gets recovered. >> celeste, could you tell me about what you might have known or heard about the domestic violence, the so-called
episode. flores is missing, last seen december 12th. griffith is cooperating with their investigation. kristen welker is in las vegas. set the scene. what is happening? >> reporter: well, jason griffith didn't show up today at cot. he was arraigned through his attorney, charged with coercion. that is essentially a legal term for when you try to prevent someone from doing something. he tried to prevent debbie flores, the missing woman from using her ipod. in the midst of that scuffle he wound up kicking her and pulling her hair. this happened in october. his next court date is set for april 14th. we want to stress that this hearing does not have a connection to her disappearance. again, debbie floerz who was a danners on the las vegas strip was last seen on december 12th. she left rehearsal, went home
us from las vegas. >> reporter: hi there, thomas. police wrapped up a news conference just a short while ago and they are now calling the ex-boyfriend of debbie flores-narvaez a person of interest. his name is jason griffith. they're also confirming a lot of what debbie's sister has been telling the public, namely that debbie left rehearsal on december 12th, she's a dancer at the luxor hotel here in las vegas. she left rehearsal, went home, and then told her roommate she was going to go visit her ex-boyfriend, jason griffith. police say that in interviewing griffith he did confirm that that happened, here's how police describe griffith's last interaction with debbie. take a listen -- >> we have spoken with her ex-boyfriend, and he stated that they did have a short conversation. she then left in her vehicle. and when she left, everything was fine and -- >> reporter: now, according to police, after that brief interaction with her
time. she's been accused of covering up the ponzi scheme, and she's accused of pocketing and perhaps hiding at least $14 million. and there are developments in just the past hour in the mysterious disappearance of a las vegas showgirl. her name is debbie flores navarre r navarrez been missing for a week after telling her roommate that she was heading to see her boyfriend. they've just completed a news conference. what do they have to say? >> reporter: a couple of headlines out of the news conference. the police are calling the ex-boyfriend jason griffith a person of interest in this case. they are calling him that simply because he was one of the last people to see her. they are also clarifying and confirming what we've been told by debbie's sister, which is that on december 12th debbie left a rehearsal, she was a dancer at the luxor hotel here
behind but most people won't leave without their purse. >> right. megyn: have they shed any light on whether in fact it was a purse. >> not that i'm aware. her sister did tell me that debbie's phone has been shutout and her space book and my space accounts are inactive since sunday. megyn: were the police able to use the pings of the cellphone as a way of finding her or did that just direct them to that car? >> i don't know. i would imagine they are probably looking into the cellphone records and stuff, again they are being very tightlipped about what they reveal so far in the investigation. megyn: is there any belief, we heard the sister's sound byte earlier saying she is not the type to load or go off on a vacation and miss her scheduled dancing dates at the luxor, is there any belief by the officials at this point that she may have just decided to -- that she needed a get away and she might still be okay and out there on her own.
