glenn thrush it is here justice department reporter for the new york times. leigh ann caldwell an anchor for washington post live and coauthor of this morning newsletter. the early joint or two. former new york prosecutor and silver its attorney charles coleman jr.. charles you were the last to be introduced. you are the first in the hot seat. can you explain this to us? trump's lawyers now trying to make this legitimate argument of why they need the trial delayed, basically indefinitely. what is your take? do they have any possible real claim here? >> stephanie, this is the definition of a telegraph past if i've ever seen one. we should have expected this because it is directly out of the trump playbook. it's very interesting to look at because, on one hand they're making the argument in this filing that, essentially, trying to hold a trial before the election would result in an impartial jury that a jury that would be partial and they wouldn't be able to find a fifth jury. the other interesting piece about this, that, publicly, they're arguing that, by four seeing at this point,, they're
