Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Reveals She Was a Sexual Assault Survivor

The congresswoman also said that she feared for her life when the mob forced their way into the Capitol on January 6. She described how she and the others were forced to hide and take shelter when the rioters stormed Capitol Hill.
She also narrated that there was a particular time during the siege that she was hiding inside the bathroom of her office while rioters banged on the door and kept yelling, looking for her.
During that time, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that she thought everything was over and that she was going to die at that point.
Still teary-eyed, the congresswoman said that despite the fear for her life, she felt that things will turn out okay if this was truly meant to be her journey. She also said that if that was the end she has already fulfilled her purpose, ABC News reported.

Spits out Coffee: Bloomberg TV Guest Compares GameStop Stock Surge to Capitol Hill Riot

During the Jan. 27 edition of Bloomberg TV’s
Balance of Power, anchor David Westin asked Atwater, “From your research, from your reporting, is this about finance [indiscernible], or is [the GameStop stock surge] actually about politics or about social norms and a real resistance to sort of — some of the institutions we’ve had, including going all the way back to 2008 and sort of a resentment about the fact that perhaps those in the financial system were not held properly to account?” Atwater then answered with his Capitol Hill Riot comparison.
Westin’s only response to that absurdity was, “Again, we’re reaching for analogies because it’s so unprecedented.” He never corrected Atwater for tying Reddit investors to a riot where people were killed.

Julia Letlow, others sign up to run for vacant 5th Congressional District seat

Seven candidates have, so far, qualified to run for the vacant 5
th Congressional District seat that was left open after the shocking COVID-related death last month of Congressman-elect Luke Letlow, who won the seat last December.
The field is headlined by early favorite Julia Letlow, wife of Luke. Julia, who is an executive administrator at ULM, said she’s never worked in politics as Luke had, but she’s always had political aspirations.
“Public service has always been a dream of mine, it was a shared dream of ours. I happen to be fulfilling that in higher education in my current career, but we knew one day if the opportunity presented itself that I would take this leap of faith,” said Letlow.

McConnell's Latest Remarks on Capitol Building Storming Shows He's All-In on Purging Trump Wing from GOP by Matt Vespa

Reagan covered this earlier today, but soon-to-be-ex Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) came out guns blazing against the president. With just one day left of the Trump administration, the Kentucky Republican flat-out blamed Trump for causing the chaos that engulfed the Capitol Building on January 6. Five people died. Scores of pro-Trump supporters descended into the capital for the Save America rally which the president addressed. Some marched to Capitol Hill and mayhem erupted. Federal investigators are looking into evidence that this was a pre-planned incident. That, of course, undercuts the new articles of impeachment against the president which passed the House with ten Republican votes. Trump is being charged with inciting and riot and insurrection. This was bound to happen in the aftermath.

I hear a rumor that some event is going to happen today. Apparently, there is a weird ritual when a few scattered people show up and lurk behind walls – walls apparently work again – in order to install a zombie as king. Hope they have fun, because they look like idiots.
At least we get the answer to the age-old question, “What if they gave an inauguration and nobody came, except a bunch of mobilized Guardsmen ordered to be there?”

Engulfed by a cacophony of accusations and blame-assigning over the deadly Jan. 6 security situation at the Capitol building and the response to the mob who breached it, the Defense Department is examining its own role in offering National Guard support to federal law enforcement.
Along with the Justice, Interior and Homeland Security departments, DoD has opened an internal review of its role in preparing for the Jan. 6 protest-turned-insurrection, and how it responded in the immediate aftermath.
