indicating an american warship was not the target of an attack on the red sea. defense official confirmed to fox the destroyer uss carney shot down two drones headed into its direction today but it was in response to attacks on commercial ships in the region but welcome to a bra brand-new f "fox news live" i am arthel neville hey eric. steve or hello everyone i'm eric shawn thank you for joining us for it for weeks the uss carney and american warships have been shooting down drones and cruise missiles that been launched by the houthis rebels in yemen. one of the cargoes was hit in the legs ataxia running back group also taking claim for what is happened now. since october 17, 10 days after hamas attacked israel, ironic proxies in the region have launched at least 75 attacks on u.s. forces. republican leaders today calling for a stronger response and more defiance from the biden administration. i thought we have seen from this administration constantly is an appeasement for strategy. what you have to have is a strong strategy. i think since october of two st7 durban 75 attacks by iranian based proxies on our soldiers. not just the houthis attacks this adds to them we have had very little response back. with that is what we have to change. arthel: lucas tomlinson alive at the white house with the legs on the top stories. what are we hearing now at 4:00 o'clock eastern time? >> the pentagon says this was a complex attack using drones and missiles filed by the iranian backed forces inside yemen. officials say what are they commercial ships that was struck was in danger of sinking. another did not suffer significant damage great answering distress calls as you mentioned the uss carney a missile destroyer shot down two of the drones the commanding officer said they were traveling in his direction. the attack took place over five hours earlier today in the southern red sea near the straight off the coast of yemen. let's hear more -- will hear from leon for the panel last night a moderator by her own bill hemmer. what's what i would do is not just selectively attack, i would basically determine where those missiles were coming from and we have that capability to do that. where are they being fired from? and then attack those positions immediately. i would be much more aggressive about going after those who attack our u.s. forces. x at the ronald reagan institute that was before this attack today defense secretary austin also spoke at the defense conference in simi valley, california. >> we will not tolerate attacks on american personnel. these attacks must stop. and until they do, we will do what we need to do to protect our troops. and to impose costs on those who attack them. >> not everybody is convinced to. he is early on fox from a former trump administration state department official. >> tough talk. time to see action to match the words we've been lucky 75 attacks plus the ones targeting american warships in the past six weeks. but luck is not a strategy it's only a matter of time before one of these iranian proxies gets lucky and actually causes fatalities. >> we just received a statement from the other center from nebraska, de deb f debit fissure biden demonstration anemic attempts to deter forces have failed for attacks on americans demand a forceful, credible response. it's also beyond time for president biden to correct his error and re- designate the houthis as a terrorist organization. you recall the houthis rebels shot down a 32 million-dollar reaper drone a few weeks ago off the coast of yemen. there is no response of that. in terms of forces in that region you have that uss dwight d eisenhower a strike group aircraft carriers in the gulf of pf f-15, f-16 flying out of the air base cu carrying out some te other strikes in iraq and syria. arthel: lots more on the story this week. lucas tomlinson, thank you. eric: the attacks and the forces in shipping only increases. back in the 1980s when iran attacked oil tankers in the persian gulf president ronald reagan took decisive action doctor rebecca grant with much more than this. exiting fight administration taking enough of a strong response considering there been 75 attacks on our forces? the latest attacks by the houthis rebels have apparently hit a british cargo ship. >> i agree with leon. i would say it's time for central command to start developing some strike options that would get iran's attention and keep those on the shelf. the region is becoming a houthis shooting gallery as you correctly pointed out. the uss carney has been shooting back. what's new in this report is this is a multi- ship multi- weapon attack. we do not want to see escalation from their that would saturate defense capabilities. so time to think about preparing some options. eric: what type of options will be feasible in the situation? >> the number one thing of course is to continue to have strong defense of all our forces. the carney is very, very capable there shooting back more than anyone over there. we need to of course have the defenses we have for our forces that are in iraq, syria, other places where t were the other ik militias are attacking. so, if it is possible to do what has been done like with the f-15 and f-16 who found iran weapons in syria to develop the actionable intelligence directly on houthis missile placements or militias that are moving weapons around and to do a strike that's directly rating is the kind of option central command is probably already thinking about to prepare for the president if need be. eric: why can't we launch preemptive attacks on the stuff? >> oh my goodness. it is hard to sit here and watch iran's malicious ligh lineup the shots they want. all the way from down there in the straight and the red sea all the way up through to our garrison forces in syria it's a vvery, very hard to watch. most of but we don't want to see is this escalate. but i am tired of hearing about our troops under attack. i am tired of hearing about our ship being so close. remember the carney as they are trying to get shipping lane open and to make sure they commercial shipping can go through. so what is happening with the houthis is really, really wrong i would love to see them do that. the carney was little preemptive and correctly taking out the drones. if they come within 10 miles they are allowed to shoot them down. that's very, very effective. the carney's do is doing an exct job right now. eric: you talk of a keep the shipping lanes open. but the iranian tanker war sets when iran was attacking the tankers of. to keep the lanes open back then it president ronald reagan took decisive and strong action. he reflected tankers as u.s. tankers. when a hole was blown through of the ships, the reagan administration president reagan check out half the iranian navy. why don't we do something like that now? do you think that happens if we are hit? >> is a very strong policy responses. a member of the carney are doing some of that now. the threat has changed. it's the drones, and of course the crews missiles going over towards israel so carney and others are helping with that piece of it right now. we also, back in the 80s conducted a strike on some iranian oil platforms. it is an option if this continues to see legitimate iranian infrastructure or military targets. or their proxy militia targets hit. and i am telling you it's something the pentagon and central command and the white house have to be thinking about at this point. developing some options. eric: doctor rebecca grant, fox news contributor always good to see you thank you. thank you. if i've idf forces continuing they're all out assault on the gaza strip after the week long cease-fire that led to the release of over 100 israeli hostages ended friday. the israelis also say they have destroyed hundreds of shafts in gaza leading to the vast network of hamas tunnels. most of them in civilian areas. senior foreign affairs correspondent greg powell caught a live in southern israel with more on this now. >> hi arthel. we are just about a mile away from gaza strip. we are hearing a continuous distant sound of explosions blasts inside israel it's inside the gaza strip by israeli fo forces, a sign that in fact this temporary truce that lasted for a week is a very much over between israel and hamas. significantly tonight israel saying its operating all areas of gaza indicating ground calm back and tanks and infantry troops et cetera are now moving on key hamas stronghold in the south including a place where it is believed hamas leadership is hiding out. this, as troops much supported by israeli strikes including fighter jets, artillery tanks, even naval ships we can hear about three days now. we have heard them all incredibly israel tonight is claiming it has hit gaza 10,000 times in the last 50 days, 10,000 times also hidden beneath the surface. we noted this along with the hamas tunnels they said they have destroyed 500 of them. that is a big show of force against their or wildly wildly a style foe all this triggered by the october 7 hamas terror attacks which left 1200 israelis and others killed many more injured and captured the toll on the gaza civilian side, if believed horrendous for the health authority in gaza which is run by hamas claims now over 15000 people have been killed in the last two months and that includes 70% of them women and children. as for the hostages remember 105 were freed during that pause along the transfer of palestinian prisoners. but something like 137 remain in gaza. eight rally, a huge win last night in tel aviv included some of those freed and included a demand the government to save the rest. with talks now for a new truce basically on hold according to authorities. we are from prime minister netanyahu again today he was talking very much the fate of the stuck inside the darkened nearby gaza and the fate of hamas very much up in the air. back to you. arthel: greg palkot live in southern israel sankyo. baaccurate home nypd says at let five people are dead to officers are hurt after a man went on a stabbing rampage at a home in queens this morning. among the dead, two kids a police at a young woman called to report her cousin was stabbing family members when officers arrived and approached the suspect t/two of the police. those officers were taken to the hospital and are being treated for non- life-threatening injuries. now, if you take a look on your screen right now the steak knife recovered by police at the scene, that's what you're looking at right there. they said that suspect also set a living room couch on fire. they were shot and killed by officers. no word on a motive yet. eric: a suspected serial killer has been arrested in los angeles that after police say the suspect walked up to homeless men who were sleeping on the street of that city and the simply shot them dead. christina coleman has more from los angeles on this arrest, christina? do you expect this will expand throughout europe as they have seen the influx? >> great to see you eric, thanks so much helping today. and as you point out the netherlands have seen a political earthquake with the election victory and the freedom party who won nearly a quarter of the vote doubling all expectations i think in terms of their overall support. i think this is sending shockwaves across europe. the key reason for his success in the netherlands is the huge level of migration into the netherlands which i think is a common feature of many western european countries today. mass migration including a large number of asylum-seekers really was the key critical issue in the dutch elections also significantly i think the e campaign on issues such as combating soaring levels of crime. also he called for support for a referendum in the netherlands on eu membership and so it there ia strong year old skeptic approach to his campaign but without a doubt the issue of immigration, mass migration, fears over high levels of crime as well really dominated the dutch elections and i think has become the number one issue all over western europe at this time. >> critics have condemned in the past they called him xena phobic and has been indicted on charges of incitement it was overturned he has been a controversial figure. do you think he and others in europe have struck a core over the type of migration they saw especially from the middle east and the war in syria? >> they have it. this year alone i think a million people have sought asylum in the european union. there is a staggeringly high figure of the highest since 201. especially there are fears over the large numbers of islamists who are entering into it europe. this is a huge issue. and as we are seeing right now of the protest on t london and many european cities there is a huge number of militants coming out and supporting hamas and other alarmist movements. this is causing great concern. the will of the campaign goes to the heart of the issue. fears over mass migration special from the middle east and north africa largely islamic migration into europe. and fears really of a cultural invasion. it's the same fears you see not only in the netherlands but also it france, germany, spain, italy, sweden. so if every major western european country the issue of mass migration especially from the islamic world is now the number one political issue. eric: some say it helps the labor market and it helps the economy but you see a cultural impact in a way they could change the actual character of some of those nations? we saw the mass protests for example in london. and those concerns by some you think they are warranted they are seeing a change they did not actually expect. >> yes. i think the fears and concerns are warranted. especially when you see the scenes of huge numbers of islamist militants taking to the streets of european cities basically supporting hamas. and in london for example many british jews are afraid to go into central london when these are held the deeply anti-semitic nature of these protest the fears are very genuine. crime is rising across europe. much of it driven actually by high levels of migration into europe. i'm so these fears and concerns are ve
