one of the encouraging things in the report today was construction. >> reporter: construction added 15,000 jobs in february as overall hiring rebound after two dismal months. more and more part-time workers are also finding full-time jobs. since last summer, the number of people forced to work part time because of the economy has been dropping dramatically from nearly 8.2 million to less than 7.2 million. >> i thought about it for a second and i said well, something is better than nothing so let me if ahead and take the assignment and that's what i did. >> reporter: in atlanta, 34- year-old natasha mcfadden took a part-time job for a company that puts on trade shows after being out of work for 10 months. >> when the company came back and said they would hire me full time it was-- i was floored. i literally almost cried because i didn't expect that. >> reporter: another encouraging sign in the job numbers-- an increase in the average hourly wage. it's up more than 2% over the past year, or 52 cents. and that suggests the labor force is tightening that there is a greater demand for workers.
