WASHINGTON - The question of whether former president Donald Trump can be convicted at an impeachment trial now that he has left office is likely to be settled by political muscle rather than the Constitution, which is murky on the matter and provides support for those on both sides of the issue, experts said Wednesday.

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden approach the White House after Biden's inauguration last week. While his predecessor's chaotic presidency was unsettling for many Americans, it is unclear whether Biden's lower metabolism is an antidote or an overcorrection - and whether he can protect his agenda from being engulfed by political wars.Washington Post photo by Jabin Botsford
WASHINGTON - Almost every day of his young tenure, President Joe Biden has entered the State Dining Room, a portrait of Abraham Lincoln looking down and wood burning in the fireplace. He speaks on the planned topic of the day. He sits at an undersized desk and searches for a pen to sign his latest stack of executive orders. Within 30 minutes of entering the camera's frame, he has left it.

Joseph Sonnabend opened his medical practice in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City in 1977, on the cusp of what would become one of the most consequential battles of modern medicine. At the time, what is now known as AIDS - acquired immunodeficiency syndrome - had not yet been identified, and scientists were years away from isolating HIV as its cause.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame voters, who hold the awesome power of bestowing immortality on the greatest players in the sport - or, if you prefer, who face the awful duty of determining how that power should be applied - pitched a collective shutout Tuesday, failing to send a single player to Cooperstown, N.Y.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a booster of conspiracy theories with a track record of making racist statements, repeatedly endorsed violence against Democratic leaders and federal agents, according to a CNN review of her Facebook activity.
Greene filled her feed with extremist content for years before she was elected in November, becoming the first open supporter of QAnon, an extremist ideology baed on false claims, to win a seat in Congress. In a January 2019 post, Greene "liked" a comment advocating "a bullet to the head" of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., according to a screenshot published by CNN's KFile.
