not necessarily clear sailing in what looks like a difficult bid for re-election, six months from now. >> the polls show abortion as the fifth most important issue among voters, at 6%, but that number rises to 19% when they asked voters if they would vote for or against a candidate based on the issue. do you think the polls are underestimating abortion as a driving issue in the campaign? >> dramatically show. -- dramatically so. that hiccup, for example, among women and younger women, is due to the abortion issue. a lot of people don't necessarily say it's the most important battle facing the nation, but they think it is a disqualifier and think it is a clear contrast. who is on the economy, who does this or that, who knows? people's position on abortion? quite clear. the administration could not be more clear about how they
them as the issue? >> dramatically so. they are due to the abortion issue. a lot of people will vote the abortion issue that don't necessarily say it is the most important problem facing the nation, but they think it is a disqualifier. who is going to do this or that and who knows. people's position on abortion is quite clear and the administration couldn't be clearer about how they disagree with the trump administration. >> let me follow up with you. now that they have allowed a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights to be included on the november ballot there. does biden have a chance of winning florida? given how those ballot referendums have done since the overturning of roe? >> it certainly helps put florida in play. the other thing that's on the ballot in florida is marijuana.
so what do you make of the ramaswamy effect? >> interesting, i think ramaswamy annoyed a lot of people on the stage, in the audience, and at home. that's not a disqualifier. i think what was unique about ramaswamy is he was the closest trump surrogate on that stage than anybody else. when ron desantis' super pac released the memo that said defend donald trump, ramaswamy was the one that actually took that advice and it paid off for him. i think the attacks by haley on ramaswamy were heard. i think last night the four on the survivor island are ramaswamy, desantis, haley and pence. >> i think i'd have to agree with that but throw in chris christie just because he's not going to go away and he wasn't prehand, which is -- the opening of the debate was rough to watch because so many of the
hoax, he's young, he's quick. could you see a young voting bloc, a young conservative voting bloc, i don't want any octogenarians as president rallying around someone like him? >> there's analogies to the andrew yang. on climate change, on mexico, ukraine, very dangerous themes but in a post trump republican party, dangerous themes don't seem to be a disqualifier, neither does the ir reverence and brashness. when ron desantis got a question from a youth voter, it offended him and he freaked out, when a youth voter asked about climate change, why am i spending time with a kid. >> after the debate, garrett haake spoke to mike pence. this was very interesting. >> would you have approached that question and that point any
