Born in England with Gypsy ancestry, guitarist Antonitas D’Havila has never been formally trained in guitar. His father introduced him to the guitar and he has played seriously since the age of 12. He then perfected his Flamenco technique by travelling Europe, spending time living and playing in Spain and France before, at the age of 20 in 1969, he signed a record deal with RCA Records. D’Havila has released 20 albums since then, sometimes under his pseudonym Ray Isaacs, with more than 100 of his own variations on traditional Flamenco motifs. He has also contributed to scores for six films and television shows. Sesame Street, Hanging with Mr. Cooper, Knotts Landing, and the Olympics have used his music.
