The Marco Island Yacht Club held its 5th Annual “Hats and Horses” Kentucky Derby celebration. This year’s “Run for the Roses” participants enjoyed Derby Day Mint Juleps as they handicapped the race and cheered on their favorites during the race. Everyone dressed for the occasion and prizes were awarded for most elegant hat, Maribel Aber; most creative lady hat, Irene Soden; most creative man hat, Don Mills; unique hat, Deb deVries; and best guest hat Mary Beth Apolzan.
Following the race, everyone enjoyed an Old Kentucky Home dinner topped off with a Triple Crown bourbon and chocolate dessert.

$15 million online. don't forget it raked in millions more at independent movie theaters. cnn's business correspondent is here with more. good morning. >> good morning, carol. better late than never for sony and "the interview." the studio says the movie earned $2.8 million at the box office. the film is playing in about 300 theaters so that's less than a tenth of the number that it initially planned on showing it. so when you combine online and theaters, the movie earned about $18 million for the holiday weekend. you know what carol? not bad considering before the controversy the movie was forecast to gross around $20 million when it opened so pretty close. >> pretty close. maribel aber thanks so much. the next hour of cnn "newsroom" after a break.

welcome back to "early start." everyone, i am surrounded by financial wizardry this morning! it is "money time." christine romans and maribel aber at the same time. >> good morning. >> good morning to you. let's start out and talk about money. crowd. it may be coming to wall street. the securities and exchange commission voted unanimously to propose rules to buy stock and company over the internet using this crowd funding exchange and that creates a whole new way for the plaintiffs to raise money. the other thing is that it would allow them to bypass all of those -- usual costs of going public involving the hiring investment bankers, accountants, et cetera. crowd funding would also give small and promising companies a way to raise money from a wide pool of investors. retirement kind of part of the american dream. maybe a thing of the past.
