shimon is with me now, and i mean is shimon, you've done such incredible reporting on everything that went so horribly wrong. and you've already that you uncovered and we see this stark difference in nashville. but there is a similarity with how the shooter's gained access to the schools, which you know oddly, when you see some of those images that you do see the similarity in a school right with the overhead lights and the hallways and initially how the police were going in, and you have all day and then here in nashville very similar ways differences. in your body. the police stopped at some point. and then they waited. 77 minutes and yeah, look, the shooter in both of these situations entering through a side door and you have all day the door never locked, so the gunman was just able to open and go inside, sadly in nashville was just easily able to shoot their way through that door and just easily enter that school. but the other thing i think what we're seeing here is drilling the sort of the practice and sadly that schools and teachers and students have to go through. pays off. you know, you see teachers handy. keys off to

their young kids, and everyone is just sort of re traumatized over and over and over again. how much more can any of us take with this? i don't have an answer to that. i wish i did. i wish none of it. i wish we would never have to go through this again. and i think we certainly need to circle up and be near kids and give as much support as much opportunity for them to process their emotions as we can and be safe, steady sources of support in the midst of that yeah, it's just insane that you have to even think about how to talk to children about that, sissy. thank you for joining us from nashville. you have a unique perspective on this. you were there at the reunification center. thank you for your time this morning. thank you. to shimon. for what? you your perspective on this and what these families are going in. and of course, our hearts go out to the families. those are the folks who are are dealing with it, evelyn. haus, nine years old halle scruggs, nine years old william kenny, nine years old cynthia peak, 61, katherine coons, 60, mike hill, 60. one

school and she said, we are a family at covenant and i think they're feeling the reverberations of that. one thing that were so struck by. i mean, you look at the front page of the new year of the washington post today, and it's this this young child who is being driven away from the school on a school bus. it's just this anguished image that we are seeing. and i think the question that so many parents have this morning is a had a how they feel dropping their own children off at school. shimon is just talking about but als if their child was there, what they what do you even say to your child as a parent who's waking up this morning in nashville? i love that you're asking that because i think it's so important, i would say, first of all as grown ups, we really have got to manage our own anxiety because kids pick up on it. and so that would be 1st and 2nd. kids have this amazing, innate ability that they asked for the information that they're ready for, so we want to have really short factual statements . be the source where you're the one telling them, not someone else and then really let them lead the conversation. so say

into the courthouse. that is the number one priority for the secret service to ensure his security and that -- and sort of his arrival here at the courthouse, which could happen next week. a lot still at play as law enforcement tries to figure out the logistics of all of this and protecting the former president and anybody who comes out here and the court staff and the people who live around here and work around here. >> stay with us, shimon. i want to bring in andrew mccabe, a former fbi deputy director. andrew, as we mentioned, over the weekend the former president called for protests ahead of a possible indictment. what is law enforcement bracing for if he is charged? >> well, pam, i think, you know, if you're a security professional, law enforcement professional, you have to begin by assuming that the president still has the same sort of sway and influence over his supporters that he did leading into january 6th. so they are taking all of the steps that many would argue

event. i mean, the leadup to january 6th, the president and supporters had many days to talk about coming to d.c. there was a date certain that they needed to be there. that all facilitates organization and transportation and funding for people who want to come and attend. they also had the cover, if you will, of a legitimate permitted assembly at the ellipse. so those are all things that don't really add into the mix here, which i think puts law enforcement and security professionals in a little better position, but they have to plan for the worst. that's their job. >> there are so many questions, shimon, that we're asking for the first time because of the unprecedented nature at play here if this happens. is there any word in terms of logistics on how donald trump would appear in the courtroom if he is indicted? >> reporter: everyone expects him to appear here, like any other defendant, right? the manhattan d.a.'s office when there's an indictment, they notify the defense attorneys for

the defendant, for the person who's going to be arrested. that person appears at the district attorney's office, which is just behind me where they are processed, fingerprinted, photographed. then they're brought over to the courthouse. usually the manhattan d.a.'s office, they walk the defendant through the halls of the courthouse into the courtroom for all of us to see handcuffed. we don't think that's going to happen here. you know, for many reasons, but we certainly do expect that he'll be here. i do just want to note one thing, pam, in terms of social media postings and threats. they're seeing things are quiet on social media, nothing like to the run up on january 6th. they've been running down things. they've been sort of questioning people who are posting suspicious things. there's not a lot of concern for them. the biggest concern is getting the former president here safely, that is something that they're certainly working on. >> shimon, andrew mccabe, thank

deescalation practices. this is something that the department of justice is really interested in, because when you look at the video from when tyre nichols was stopped, aggressive actions by officers this those first few moments when they intercepted, when they interacted with tyre nichols. so that is what they're going to be reviewing. those two key things. because community members have been complaining about the memphis police department. as well as tyre nichols' family. they asked for this. so now the department of justice is launching this review. and also, they're now launching a review of specialized units across the country, these police units that have these aggressive police tactics to try and fight crime. so now those teams across the country are under review by the department of justice. >> shimon, memphis was bracing for 20 hours of new video to be released today, video of the events sounding tyre nichols' brutal death. but an attorney for one of the officers involved in the beating blocked the release of the
