offensive tackle trent williams tested positive for what is being described as quote, unquote, recreational drug use. this happened during last summer's lock out. both could fees finds. davis-- could night. officers say they found ortega's car crashed at the on- ramp to the roosevelt bridge and an ak-47 assault rifle inside the vehicle. ortega is in idaho but police believe he is still in the d.c. region. police also investigating another metrobus shooting t -- it happened early sunday morning on the u-6 bus. several bullets fired at the bus injuring one person. the investigation continues into a double murder outside anne arundel mills mall. this happened friday night. police say the suspected shooter knew his victim. they were able to track him down to his home in district heights. saturday morning, as six officers approached the home, the alleged gunman, 22-year-old james coleman, walked outside and hoped fire. one of the officers was hit during that. coleman was shot and killed. the officer's injuries are nonlife-threatening. the search continues if a driver involved in a deadly hit and run around 1:30 sunday morning. a woman was killed on route 3 just south of annapolis road in bowie. congress couldn't come for an agreement. now, it is their job to find ways to slash the nation's debt. >> time is running out for the super-committee. what is happening as the right now back in chicago. the other thing about today, winds. it will be rather breezy. we've got a bit of a breeze going on right now. nine mile per hour sustained wind in washington. these wind will be between i would say 10 and 15 miles per hour out of the south really. during the afternoon hours, we'll feel wind gusts between 20 to 25 miles per hour. so definitely a breezy day through the night. good question. >> i wonder if it is whatever in the atmosphere. you think how far the stars arrest way. the clouds, the thin in the atmosphere. >> a smart lady. >> thank you. >> tucker, would you like to go into the details? >> absolutely. so sarah hit the nail on the head there. it is the atmosphere. what happens is there is lots of layers to the atmosphere. as the light travels from the star through our atmosphere it our eyes, it has to go through all those layers of the atmosphere. it gets refracted, bent, pulled and you see twinkling. >> the net result is what appears to us to be the twinkling. now, if you were to travel outside of earth's atmosphere and look at the stars, they would simply appear as points of light. they would not twinkle. one of the thins that scientists here on earth have to work through when they're observing stars and recording at that time aabout sthars and that kind of stuff is taking into account the earth's atmosphere. that is why most observatories are built high up on hills and mountains so that they can get closer to the star but farther away from the earth's atmosphere and preferably in areas where there is less city light. >> that is why they build them where they build them. that is why some of our best images of stars, most usable images inners it was -- for scientific study, come from space telescopes. >> around here, i think you get better star sewage -- star viewage in the winter than in the summer. >> it is simply the earth's atmosphere but it does make for pretty stars. we like that little twinkle effect. >>
