The formation, located in the scottish cairngorms, is known as the sphinx And has been monitored since the 1700s most recently by Citizen Scientist Iain cameron, whos been documenting his latest visit to the site. It isa it is a pilgrimage. You are walking through this almost sacred lAndscape. You can go no further, you come to here And it is like the altar. This is like holy as far as the Snow Patch every century is concerned. Where the sphinx is located is the most isolated corridor in the cairngorms. For the uninitiated it can be a tricky place to deal with, getting to. To start off with we have a six mile bike journey. Then we deposit the bikes And we go up to thousAnd foot climb onto the plateau. From there it has another 1. 5 mile across the plateau And we drop into a steep gully using a bit of rope, which drops us into the quarry. It is quite a bit of an exhibition to get here, that is for sure. We are literallyjust in the nick of time. The sphinx is tiny. I wasnt sure it was going to be here. But it is but barely, its not going to last past midnight tonight.
