rachel: good morning, everybody. there's nashville, bringing back good memories. pete: yeah, lights were on that bridge. awesome. rachel: good morning to all of you. will, pete. basking in the glow of the patriot awards and i like. will: i like and i liked nashville. hi a thought in the airport and i wonder what you'll say and how you'll react. it's fun, it's cool, and it's coming together in a way that feels like, you know, it's growing really quickly, nashville a lot of people moving in. it's coming together. to dough think -- people have talked about this, is it headed in the direction of austin? rachel: becoming more liberal and it's got country music which by the way doesn't necessarily insulate you and austin has that too. you live there, is it headed in that direction? pete: i don't speak with a full weight of a local that's been there over time and seen it change. but my experiences and what other locals have said, you get a lot of people seeking sanity coming to nashville. or the greater nashville area. meaning center right as opposed to austin, which has now has a reputation of being center left. will: maybe far left. pete: pulling the experience of the garbage of california. you're not moving from california to nashville if you're looking for another liberal haven. you're moving to the greater nashville area because you want away from that stuff. it's got a liberal mayor. will: like everywhere. pete: yeah, but a republican congressman because of redistricting there. it's not getting blue any time soon. will: so if you were from nashville and think i'm wrong, i'm just guessing. i was curious walking through the airport like the pizza shop was really cool and things are really cool. pete: conservatives can have nice cool things too. rachel: drunk bachelorette parties. pete: if you go down to broadway street, there's bachelorette parties every r. rachel: funny story on all the members at this event, we went on one of those bikes. pete: the pedal bike. rachel: ran into a bridal shower. it's a story. i'll tell you in the next one. it's a deep tease. pete: in a moment. we were in issue varicose veins nashville for the patriot awards and joe biden was on the west coast and met with xi jinping and mexican president obradore and what's going on on the southern border. you watch the program and know the crisis we have there. obthere>> we're working side bye and combating the opioid epidemic and fentanyl and talking privately together and taking a balanced approach and the los angeles declaration of immigration and protection. opening and destroying them for migrants. >> i would also like to express and to state that he is the first president in states and is not the clause and we need to support one another so migration is an option and not enforced. rachel: happy for you, joe biden. it's interesting because i remember democrats complaining that we can't build the wall because it was so expensive and it was going to be $7 or $8 billion and we're now spending half a trillion at least and not a figure that came out in an article on the washington examiner over the last couple weeks and half a trillion dollars on illegal immigration and that would have been a fabulous investment and look at what new york city is dealing with and these are some of the costs of the crisis on just one city, $12 billion over the next few years. rachel: just for new york city. think about the community in your state will do. will: it should serve as a canary in the coal mine or illustration and you have that much money you have to spend and that many illegal immigrants, you've got to cut from somewhere. this is what they've done. cutting 29,000 cops that will reduce them to 19th level policing and slashing the new york public libraries, sunday is done, closing some libraries, fdny slashed by $206 million and first of all -- pete: fire is not a problem in the city anymore? rachel: you get a heart attack and that thing is not coming, the ambulance isn't going to come to get you or as paul morrow said in the interview with him, there's a lot of deuterons that happens when we get new recruit -- deterrence happening with new recruit cops on the corner. that deterrence in time square, people may a little better. there will not be any extra when it comes to policing. will: think about this death spiral, you've got covid, then shut down the economy, you -- everybody makes less during that period of time. you raise taxes. pete: yep. will: rich people moved out, that's happened. exodus from new york. more taxes and at the same time you need more taxes to cover up from the loss from the billionaires coming in and greater tax on the system and less coming in and higher expenses and cut your budget and that's going to make the system even worse. pete: more crime connells. will: the tax is higher and getting into the death spiral. covering the new york post and welcome to the big apple. pete: brother, can you spare a billion in the beg apple. it's a copy here and eric adams going to billionaires and millionaires in new york staying pony up more. rachel: for cops. pete: for cops and outside organizations and certainly taking that hat and trying to bring to the federal government too. we need your bailout in the federal government's broke. it's a really bad situation that new york city has put itself in by saying we're open for anybody and we're going to pay for your housing. and oh, by the way, we're going to build all the tents but nobody wants to go because they want to stay in the roosevelt. rachel: they want to stay in the nice hotels. i spoke to paul morrow, he's a tern and retired nypd inspector. here's what he said about this crisis in the city. >> things like response times are going to be down. it's going to be less cop in cars, et cetera. one of the other things you don't hear a lot about is the effect on police omni presence and when the cops are out there, uniform of young cops getting invinvolved and it's preventatie and people behave and a couple of cops standing in time square on on the beach in one of the boroughs, people will tend to at least in that area. rachel: behave a little better. >> yeah, it's common sense and cause and effect is un-dissenable and pinning this on washington, how long washington can deny the obvious. if you don't have a southern boarder and all of the folks coming in all day every day, you're not going to be able to feed and have that care in feed asking so completely on the government. if it's not looked at more closely, independent of the migrant issue, then it's never going to be solved. >> eric adams might be more cautious and now he's under investigation. rachel: there's a price to pay for kind of exposing the tragedy and the consequences of the opener border policy and the other mayors out there and twice about complaining and defense getting sicked on mayor adams. pete: this is one example in one town and another spotlight on for another month and you've got five, six, seven million illegals in -- where are they all? what is the system they're attached to that's taking from other americans that should have access to it. will: three republican candidates for president visited for iowa for the evangelical christian forum. sitting at the tame table by the way. love to feel the tension there of vivek and nikki haley. rachel: i love this forum and love these conversations. >> she had a miscarriage, lost her first child. and that was the loss of a life, it was our family's loss, and you know porva, she is probably one of the most upbeat, strong, positive people you will meet. she went into a state of depression after that, and our faith is what got us through it. when you bring life into this world, you protect all life born and unborn. that's where our commitment comes from. >> unfortunately we lost that first baby and, you know, it was a tough thing because this is something that we had so much hopes for and so much aspirations but we just kept the faith. we just kept praying, we knew that there would be a path that god would lead us on, and low and behold, you know, short time after, we did it and we had our first baby girl. i think it showed me one, life has a long and winding road, keep the faith. but it also told me, you know what, this is special. i got to fight for these kids, and i've got to fight for all these kids. rachel: i have to tell you, i've had two mis-karens myself, and -- miscarriages myself and it's very emotional. it was fascinating for me that this forum got the views of the fathers in this experience. so often in the debates that we have about life and the sanctity of life and defending life, men are left outside of the table, and it's wrong. you can see here what i got was, you know, by the way, the vivek story was long and winding. if you get a chance, i recommend you go online and listen to his whole story. it was powerful as was ron desantis', and he called up his -- vivek called up his child and it was just a fascinating thing to see and just more proof that men need to be part of these discussions. pete: yeah, i mean, this is -- we just talked about the crisis at the border and this is a policy issue that should be front and center in 2024. what the deputies are going to do is talk about donald trump and raise the issue of abortion. whoever the republican candidate is and, you know, likely will be donald trump, but these three are running as well. talking candidly about your experience and humanizing the discussion is going to be important and demonizing the heck out of them. rachel: they spoke to the humanity of the fetus. when you want a child like that, you know it's a child. that's really at the heart of the issue. meanwhile, house speaker mike johnson just said least going to release more than 40,000 hours of footage taken at the capitol on january 6, 2021. he's keeping his promise on that. will: the house released several videos in september but johnson says the decision to make more public is vital for transparency for the american people. will: alexandria hoff is in washington with the latest. >> good morning, according to the speaker's office, the whole 44,000 hours will be released in waves over the next few months. on x, speaker johnson posted his reasoning behind this mass release and the link to where the public can ultimately crew the footage. he stated "truth and transparency are critical and this decision will provide millions of americans criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials". so there are already videos present on the public committee website. those are from september release. speaker johnson said starting yesterday, more f footage woulde available at terminals located in the subcommittee offices here in dc. rachel, this release satisfies a promise that johnson made to conservatives running for the speakership. about 5% of the footage from january 6 will be helled back and may involve sensitive security information relating to the building architecture and departments made to blur the faces of private citizens so that they cannot be targeting. rachel: this is powerful and this is a good will and she'll have to do things and wrangle all these catching and not everyone is happy with this and you're going to satisfy this a lot of conservatives and my political analysis is that kevin mccarthy and had hawaii he garnered that kind of will with the conservative wing of the party and ended up ousting him and this is really important and people that are still being hounded by our fbi and doj and talking about veteran and purple heart veteran and building 12 minutes and never touched a thing, left, he's on a no fly list. he gets treated like he's a terrorist. meanwhile remember when i went to the border and there were 30 guys who just crossed the border and getting onto a flight with a manila folder like this. pete: your cell phone and flight. rachel: how long they'd been in the united states and january 6 and going for 12 minutes and he can't travel to go see a family and he doesn't want to see that shame and embarrassment that happened and this is a very serious topic. it'll be interesting to see what's -- there's going to be a lot of citizen sleuth going through the footage and it's, how many thousands -- pete: 44,000 hours and there's a level of political targeting and persecution here for every day americans like we've never seen in this country. in washington dc and i hope congress does even measure. good on them for releasing it. turning to headlines. for the 18s facing murder charge for the deadly beat of this 17-year-old jonathan lewis are set to appear in a las vegas court again on tuesday after making their first court appearance yesterday. those four are adults. the attack and earlier this month and authorities believe the fight was over a pair of stolen headphones and possibly a vape. will: travel chaos could be on the horizon as millions plan to travel for thanks gi gi giving a potential storm makes its way across the country last week. storms already drenching parts of florida over a foot of rain leaving roads flooded. for more on this store, download the fox weather app or stream on any connected device. nfl investigating the season ending wrist injury. the league wants to know if law may recollects are looking to reject more than a billion federal in k through 12 schools and replacing with state funds. our next guest says the move is part of the state's fight for educational freedom. cameron saxton is the tennessee house speaker and he joins us now. mr. speaker, thank you for being here. what does that mean to reject federal education? what would allow the state of tennessee to do? >> it'll restrict and limit the building with more freedom and education more and tennessee the federal way and we know we have the funding to replace that billion dollars and until the federal government can keep their debt like they're sending to us and we'll do it ourselves. pete: interesting, what types of things would it allow tennessee to do that federal dollars and the strings that come with it you're not allowed to do right now >> yeah, even in kentucky are two states that tried to change the trillion government funding and if they chai to change from the federal standards and learn that the federal government is the one sending the money and have you change your state rules or they'll withhold the funds and the federal government dictating what the rules are. pete: does this inclues things like curriculum and standards? the types of things that have trickled down and made their way into the schools we report on all the time and give tennessee the about to push proposed legislation and comes back saying the federal could could withhold $1 billion and not allowing the states to make changes to the federal standards and the school lunch program about $330 million and we're going to continue front pushing vieding for free and reduced but we learned there's a minimum of 20% waste. that's over $80 million of waste that's going out the window we coup sending food home with kids or doing something different and not having that much waste. pete: there's going to be a lot of critiques you want to cut education and get rid of services. >> i believe it's $1 billion you need to find. where do you find that from in tennessee? urn the last 13 nears with republican leadership and the economy has grown and instead of using our revenues as recurring money and it builds up and $2 billion in recurring funding in today's economy and we'll be caution and have a lot of one time money and comes down to your philosophy, should education be funded by the state and dictated by the state and provided by the state or do you allow the federal government to provide like 9% of your budget and dictate to you what you do in the classroom? pete: that's exactly right and opens up the space for educational freedom initiatives that only give tennessee parents more options, which is exactly what's needed considering the crisis for federal education. speaker
