i'm shannon bream in for bret baier. president biden addresses whether he would commute the sentence for his son, for his multiple felony convictions. new york police arrest a suspect armed to the teeth who may have been planning a terror attack. our series on space exploration examines the search for extraterrestrial life >> but, first, breaking tonight dueling field trips for the presumptive presidential nominees while president biden makes news in italy about possible executive action regarding his son hunter, former president trump was on capitol hill where his first visit since the riots on january 6th, 2021 mr. trump spoke with house and senate republicans and addressed a business round table. he also spoke with fox news congressional correspondent aishah hasnie about his eventual running mate. let's bring her in right now. good evening, aishah. >> aishah: good evening to you, shannon, if it wasn't apparent before it certainly is after today. president trump has the support of the majority of house and senate republicans. and in his first exclusive interview after meeting with them, he extended an olive branch to one political opponent, while showing empathy for another. >> president trump, who do you want for g.o.p. leader? >> for the first time in four years and the first time since the january 6th riot, former president trump back near capitol hill trying to bring house and senate republicans together ahead of the election. >> it was a great meeting. there is tremendous unity in the republican party. >> aishah: after his whirlwind tour of washington talking business, policy, campaigns and burying the hatchet with g.o.p. leader mitch mcconnell, trump spoke exclusively to fox about it all and gave us a hint about his v.p. pick. >> a lot of folks surrounding you. some of them are on the short list for vp. >> yeah. >> was your pick for v.p. in the room with you. >> probably, yeah. probably. i don't want to go but probably. i think we will probably announce it during the convention. >> do you know who your v.p. is? >> i have sort of a pretty good idea. look, we have some really talented people. i have a pretty good idea. >> trump also made news today by throwing his support behind former maryland governor and senate candidate larry hogan despite his own campaign and the rnc slamming hogan for telling americans to respect trump's new york verdict. >> are you going to support larry hogan to win that senate seat. >> yeah. i would like to see him win. i think he has a good chance to win. i would like to see him win. >> are you endorsing him? >> nobody has asked me that but essentially i would be endorsing him, yeah. >> shot back saying governor hogan has been clear is he not supporting donald trump just as he didn't in 2016 and 2020. trump also commented on the hunter biden conviction and whether or not president trump should pardon his son or commute the sentence. >> well, i can say a lot of things that hunter did were already killed by the statute of limitations so, in that regard, they have already benefited. as you know. >> aishah: you are a father though. doyou understand what itmeans t. what would you do in that situation. >> it's a very serious thing. i understand that whole subject. i understand it pretty well because i have it with people in their family. it's a very tough situation for a father. it's a very situation for a brother or sister and it goes on and it's not stopping whether it's alcohol or drugs our whatever it maybe. it's a tough thing and so that's a tough -- it's a tough moment for their family. it's a tough moment for any family involved in that. >> aishah: showing quite a bit of empathy there, shannon, he doesn't go as far as to say whether he would pardon his own son if he were in that similar situation. trump also addressed those comments he made about the rnc host city milwaukee because democrats are really going after him right now saying he basically told me he was talking about crime in the city when he called the city horrible. and he was talking about election integrity adding i love milwaukee. shannon? >> shannon: yeah. sounds like a number of lawmakers in that meeting have the same version he does. we will talk about it later with the panel. aishah, great interview. thank you. >> got it. >> shannon: president biden is now on the record he will not commute the eventual sentence for his son after his conviction on felony gun charges. during his news conference today with ukraine's president in italy, president biden reiterated he will not pardon his son but this was the first time he addressed the commutation question. white house correspondent jacqui heinrich reports tonight from bari, italy. hello, jackie. >> good evening to you, shannon. u.s. officials have been uncharacteristically blunt. this summit was meant to deliver lasting support for ukraine because biden's future in office isn't guaranteed. the reality that came into sharper view with french and u.k. leaders also facing headwinds. but biden also had personal problems to shoulder on the world stage. >> would you commute your son? >> the only place where putin has been successful and is not surprising because he is a kjb guy has been a propaganda operation to deter the biden administration from giving ukraine what they need and when they need it. >> zelenskyy expressed thanks for the pledge meant to outlive the next administration. plus a new $50 billion loan underwritten by the u.s. and backed by frozen russian assets. experts say the kremlin's response is still playing out. russian prosecutors today announcing "wall street journal" reporter evan gershkovich will stand trial on what the u.s. deems sham espionage charges. >> i think what putin trying to do by putting him on trial is to enhance russia's leverage. >> the u.s.-ukraine agreement comes one month before nato allies converge in d.c. heading off a replay of last year's tensions when ukraine was denied an invitation to the alliance. president biden said the new agreement includes major friments from ukraine on democratic reforms needed to buena nato. shannon? >> shannon: jacqui, also a strong warning to china at this summit not to help russia in its war in ukraine. there has been lot of discussion of that here in washington. does zelenskyy also think it's a concern or not?
