trump as the nominee of the party. you know, i can't fathom having another four years of joe biden in the white house, so that will be the case that people will ultimately reluctantly move towards if you're not supporting trump already. but you know again, i always said from the beginning when i started supporting desantis early on, i think it will be tough for trump to win the general election and i still believe that, but i would support him absolutely if he's the nominee. >> hall hal lambert, thank you for your time tonight. >> thank you. up next, brian will join me saying the fox and right wing media are protecting trump to jump their ratings. and plus the '21 policy questions the president has avoided answering soso far in ts campaiaign.

the top democrats they're becoming increasingly optimistic about the economy and their own lives. republicans are not that different from democrats in their assessment of how they're doing. but they are extremely negative about the economy. look at america in 2024. if you are a republican, whatever question upholstery may ask, the question you end up answering is, do i support donald trump? and so we have this extremely negative -- it's not the only factor but it's a really large part of it that is simply -- what you say about the economy becomes a statement about your political identity. >> yes there are so many shortcuts about the economy that just reflect partisanship, peoples views at large about the democratic party, the republican party. you've written a lot about that pessimism from republicans. i wonder about hispanic and black voters. these are core democratic
around the elephant in the room extends to literally any topic that treads on, you know, a desire or an mating idea held close to the heart of the trump base. it's so weird. >> it is. i think chris christie could have had a number on this one. she doesn't pretend like she does tough talk. she wants to say she's tough when she's talking about an easy target. but where something comes up with the maga base or even the evangelical base, the odd types of voters she needs to win in new hampshire, she doesn't know what to do. it was true about the civil war, it's true about abortion, it's true about answering what to do about donald trump and pardoning him. and so it doesn't feel like she wants to offend anybody, and you end up with a campaign that's kind of for nobody. and i think where she's going to end up is she'll all of the people that didn't want to vote for donald trump in the first place, which is the chris
not afraid of answering lawmakers questions. chairman james comer, back in october, offer to let hunter tusk if i publicly with the transcript to be, or rather, he let him testify publicly months ago. now he wants him to testify publicly. why not answer questions in front of the world? >> i don't have a problem with that, boris. i don't. i am not a lawyer. this is a procedure they have told me has been done in the past. the reason they knew that is if somebody is innocent, if your name is mentioned there, it does not need to be, it's not part, it doesn't have anything to do with it but you pour casually mentioned, or maybe some confidential bank records, those are the kind of things they filter through. they don't do in public. that is the reason why. really, i don't give a rip. he's been there, he has been condemned. he knows he is. yesterday was a show for both sides. you and i both know it. we don't have these things, in the x, or twitter, or facebook,
it's a very bad thing and it's a very bad precedent, as we said. it's the opening of a pandora's box. >> a reporter asked if he would rule out violence by his supporters and he walked away without answering. i wouldn't exactly say that he was -- he's condemned it strongly when he was asked about it last night in the town hall on fox about political violence. what's your take on his use of political violence? >> you could call it a dog whistle, but it's full lights and sirens. he's telling you exactly when he's thinking. he's sowing that extreme seed and putting that line in the sand, and i've said this often. the most important thing about a president is it's not so much the tax policies that affect our day to day lives and how safe our streets are and how good the schools are and it's about setting the tone and temp rachlt for the country and this is for a leader that can put out a whole new culture change. this would be like a new ceo coming in where there's a culture issue and we need a new culture in this country. >> geoff duncan, thank you very much for being here.
