>> iowa is extremely critical. i don't know how critical one visit it. it has extra import because of the weak campaign launch desantis had. he doesn't seem like that great of a retail politician. we have seen not great retail politicians do well in republican primaries if they can have a message that is resonating with the primary voters. that's his big issue. i look at that fox clip. the electability message, we tried that in 2016. that's not enough for republican primary voters. you have to make the case you are electable and you are somebody that can win on issues they care about. that's where desantis would seem to have an opportunity. hasn't done a great job of making that case. there's a poll out that showed that over 50% of republican

feels like order has been restored.the situation room" and suddenly everybody feels like order has been restored. and suddenly everybod feels like order has been restored. he went from the house to the u.n. to china back to the c.i.a. and had really run for president from a base as he used to put it as friends and christmas card list. he had no natural political base. he never won a statewide race in texas until the 1988 primaries. it was an unconventional political life. that's something worth remembering. he rose to the top on a kind of quiet persistent charisma. it's not a word you hear much associated with george h.w. bush. you hear it with kennedy, regan, clinton, obama. but george h.w. bush if you met him, you were basically his for life, and he was one of the great retail politicians in american history.
well. wisconsin, scott walker, we all know what a great campaigner he is. he's one of the best retail politicians i've seen and he has good results to show in wisconsin. that's a very, very tight race but i have a lot of faith in the end that the people of wisconsin will re-elect scott. michigan is a little bit more of an uphill battle. but bill schuette has been working hard and is trying to get his message out. he's closed a lot stronger than people thought he would. so while that's a difficult part of the country for us, we are by no means throwing in the towel and are actually somewhat optimistic. >> let me ask you this. there's an interesting conundrum here. you've got a couple of republican governors in very blue states that will cruise to re-election, i'm thinking charlie baker in massachusetts, larry hogan in maryland in particular. at the same time, you're struggling in some of the reddest states in america, your candidates in oklahoma and kansas. what are hogan and baker doing right and what are kris kobach and mr. stitt doing wrong?
