recovering from hospital wounds after being engaged in a gun battle with police. the investigation here is just beginning though. investigators have said about the motive that they believe this is a hate crime. they don t know if this was planned for months and weeks or if the suspect decided to snap and open fire at this. that s part of the investigation. investigators are also combing through his social media history. trying to figure out who he was communicating -- they say they found a lot of hate speech on the website gab that s known as an open forum for white supremacists. investigators are going through that information. they re trying to compile any surveillance video of the suspect, where he was in the hours leading up to the shooting, as well as the months before and who he may have had contact with, stephanie. >> all right, matt, give us the

latest on the victims. >> stephanie, i m standing here in front of the hospital here where four of those victims were initially taken. you know, stephanie, this whole fluent is just aching for good news. yesterday, officials said one of those police officers, of the two here at this hospital, would be released yesterday. as of today, we haven t heard of that. we re hoping that he might come out in the next coming days. but those four victims, one of them is a 74-year-old, and that s going to be very, very difficult for that recuperating. he sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen. so for a man of that age, it s going to take a really long time. we spoke to the head of trauma there. he said that s the most complicated case of the four of them. but i ve also been going around, stephanie, in talking to family and friends of these victims. the 11 people who died. and it s really just such a poignant picture of a really
