a hard truths about misinformation that even after it costed them in court, right wing outlets remain willing to do trumps bidding. remember the separation of church and state? we are going to louisiana for the worst of the week. the vast majority of americans say they believe lgbtq plus americans deserve equal rights. so why thpride month are we seeing and up taken hate? an uptick in hate? we begin this hour by taking you back to november 3, 2020. that was election night. donald trump was enjoying his lead in the swing states against joe biden. the mood was triumphant at the white house and at the fox headquarters in new york. then at 11 1:20 pm, all broke loose. >> what is this happening here? why is arizona blue? did we just call it? did we make the call in arizona? there's a checkmark did the decision desk make it? >> yes we can confirm. >> it was fox accurately calling arizona for joe biden which changed everything. they called the entire election for biden. angry viewers flocked to far right competitors. it was significant enough to cause a ratings drop for the murdoch empire. fox adapted by questioning the election results in spreading conspiracy theories over 700 times in just the span of two weeks after biden one won. there was a little-known electronic voting company in this country. >> a lot of strange things happened. many of them were highly suspicious. dominion software. >> they've got business in venezuela . caracas, cuba, and links to china. >> the company called dominion which started in his venezuela with the software, they are capable of flipping votes. these are serious allegations. >> guess what, the pivot actually worked. fox got there viewers back from newsmax and some were banding together and storming the u.s. capitol during the january 6 insurrection. dominion had enough of fox's lies they took some to court for defamation and eventually settled for over $780 million after it was revealed fox executives and hosts were knowingly spewing his election lies in exchange for higher ratings. this takes us to where we are today. a months before the 2024 election with polls consistently showing trump and biden in a razor close race. trump is breathing down fox's neck. just this week he demanded fox corporation ceo locklin murdoch fired former house speaker paul ryan from the fox board after he dared to criticize him on the air. what is it that we are doing to offset this pressure? they suggest the election results will be rigged yet again. >> if you somehow pull this out was some kind of shenanigans , i hate to use the word so lightly but these shenanigans, you'll deal with a public that doesn't by the election. let's get rid of the drop boxes altogether. how could we accept the results of the selection in the landscape? >> so it's clear that fox learned one thing from the dominion fallouts, not the obvious one, to stop spreading election lies that threaten and undermine our democracy but rather, to be vague and careful to avoid pitting a potential unfavorable result on a specific company with a lot of money and can actually sue you. since that fateful arizona call on election night 2020, fox has been all in on supporting his assault on our democracy. like many of our republican allies, they flip-flopped from condemning the insurrection to downplaying it and casting the writers of political prisoners. he teased this specter of political violence if he loses in his right wing propaganda was. all for the sake of ratings and dollars. we have the all-star panel to break this down. our political analyst and a special correspondent. it's great to have you. it's a very rare occasion to have so many people on the set. it feels great. molly, i'll start with you. it's dij@ vu all over. though fox isn't waiting until the elections and post elections to spread the lie, they are preparing the big lie for election day. it's insane. what they're basically saying is the only way he loses is if it is a good. >> that's what donald trump is saying. you've got lou dobbs who got fired because of this lawsuit, the dominion lawsuit. $780 million. there's an awful was there is another lawsuit but they're just trying to stay well event relevant. the whole crew is just trying to stay alive. they are trying to get voters and they feel they are locked in propaganda death spiral with one american news and all of these others supercharged networks. >> their motivation is obviously ratings. they learned the mistake . tucker carlson lost his job because at the time you know they all didn't believe the election was stolen but they were going out and talking about it. it cost him his job. they were like you know what, we could talk about the big lie and push the big lie let's not name the big companies who have resources to sue hours. >> joe biden was reading the election. >> $780 million. $14 billion in earnings. they could spend another $500 million to get their earnings back with ad sales but what i find concerning is talking to trump supporters of the rallies here, the thing is, the trump supporters are intertwined with donald trump. if he loses hence they are a loser. it reminds me of the the confederacy, the lost cause a rift. that's what you have got here, the same minds of the people here. there will be fake rallies like we lost, we lost. >> you actually speak to trump voters and this is what it's all about because these hosts don't believe what they are spewing but there viewers do. these fox viewers who are trump voters believe these lies and when you go out there you hear them repeat the lies to you even if sometimes when you talk to them it doesn't make sense. >> i want to same to say something truly shocking.. we heard a lot of out there conspiracy theories but this kind of knocked me over. i talked to a trump supporter and i said who won the 2020 election and they said joe biden won fair and square and i kid you not that was the first time i've ever heard that at a trump rally. that's how ingrained the big lie is with trump supporters. the trump supporters are in the fox audience. whatever trump says goes so this is a business decision. they have to basically say whatever trump says is true because that is what the viewers want to hear. >> he himself admitted it on tape for a variety coeditor and chief who sat down with him for his new book and inquired about his relationship with the former fox host. listen to this slip up. >> he did a good job. he was smart. cunning. he did a good job. >> are you guys still close? >> no, i don't think so. after i lost the election, i won the election but when they said that -- he called me up 3- 4 times. >> quite the freudian slip. after they set i lost to the election. >> actually talked to him about his book. he said when he was interviewing trump he had a bunch of interviews where he didn't remember having the interview before it. he was really surprised and spent almost all of his time talking about how much he loved the host of the apprentice and little time how much he talked about being president. the guy is an actor. >> i do think, you know a lot of this projection what he has about joe biden, you have to wonder about how much of this is actual projection. >> the problem with this big lie is it something he says to his voters, it resulted in the insurrection on january 6. what you have now is not just a recasting of the election but the recasting of the results. now the recasting of january 6 as being political prisoners and patriots. people who felt their votes were stolen. >> he calls them warriors now. warriors aren't people who peacefully walk through the capital. they fight battles so he celebrating those people who beat up police officers. the most alarming thing is he talks about parting them and the crowd cheers them. these aren't just people in jail. he's trying to incentivize a future violence by supporters because they know. i do this close to the election and he will have my back and pardon me. it's for future crimes on his behalf. he wants them to be his violent militia. >> do you believe based on what you've seen that they are just as animated or committed this time around four years ago if there was a call to action of any kind by trump or supporters of his it could result in another january 6? >> i think what you are seeing with the courthouse , people because they believe these conspiracy theories that the fbi was behind january 6, they are worried to come here because they think that the fbi is going to set them up when really donald trump is telling them to go there and he won't do it. i think definitely with the election people are saying that they are ready to do anything for donald trump. >> that's three-dimensional chess they are playing. stick around, there's a lot more we need to discuss. new audio of roger stone revealing what trump has up his sleeve this november. ve this n (lady) 35! the republicans are hammering this home every day. riling up the base and democrats are saying we've got to vote but not doing anything else. >> i don't know what the dnc is doing behind the scenes but i think leading the 2020, the lawyers were ready. they would be foolish not to have the lawyers ready. they know what the playbook will be . it was much easier if he was going to overturn the election being in the white house as opposed to being outside of the white house it makes it harder now you have to remove biden second during four years now they confirmed the judges so the judiciary is different than it was in 2020. they lost all over. over the last four years they cannot give us another cannon is like jim jordan in a robe. it's ridiculous what they're doing down in florida. going to one decision, the election was illegal and had all supporters even if it's reversed. you're saying that could spark another attack. i'm not worried about litigation but the real world reaction which is another attack on the capital. >> going back to the point we are discussing before, you talk to trump supporters. the amount of belief that they have. the only way donald trump loses is through the system being rigged. on a scale of 1-10, how high is that? are they amenable to any factual results in which trump doesn't win? >> on a scale of 1 to 10 probably 15,000. most of the people like we said before, they get their news from truth social or donald trump. they believe what he tells them to believe. the reality is what he says it is. it's not just that he says this to his supporters. there's going to be lawyers and people in congress who are going to be acting out to make donald trump's reality a reality. if he believes that he won that he wants to win, he wants to win so it's really scary to see them and listen to them. hearing them say that there is this deep state attack on the donald trump and they're doing everything they can to stop it because he's fighting for me and they really believe it. he's fighting for me. not that he just has a bruised ego from losing or doesn't want to be considered a loser. >> looking back we've learned a lot. i think some felt january 6 was this kind of impromptu reactionary moment in which they wanted to hear donald trump but as we learned through the convictions of many protesters, learning names of organizations like the proud boys and the three presenters and oath keepers, we realized there was a lot of organization and prep work for the attack on january 6. the people you are speaking to i'm not trying to diminish them but do you get the sense that there's an organization behind them that is the one that we should be concerned about more so than what we are seeing in the public? i don't think a lot of people knew as much about the oath keepers, the proud boys, the three presenters as we do now. >> on january 5 when we were in dc there were militias and proud boys and they were on every street corner. they were basically creating a perimeter there so i knew about them then you still see 3% are shirts there and proud boy patches at these rallies. maybe this makes up about 1% of the people but do the math. his rallies are huge and i hope that everyone realizes this. he's getting 20,000 to 30,000 people at those things. >> let's talk about roger stone. he's saying this stuff, getting caught on a microphone. i don't know if he knows he's being recorded but you can only imagine what they are plotting or planning when we hear so explicitly part of the plan. it's like one incident and reporters may have gotten lucky. he may have just had an off-the- cuff comment. he wasn't thinking about it but you've got to wonder when he and the steve bannon's, the other senators that won't accept results of an election you think about what's taking place behind the scenes a few months out so it's a scary thought. >> look, none of this is normal. trump is running because he has this criminal exposure and figures he could get donors to pay his legal bills and that it might stop him from getting these trials. it's not like a normal republican president. this guy is running as an autocrat and has the republican party that's either afraid of him or me the calculus that they don't want this democracy anymore. it's really scary. i do think, look roger stone is a part of the pardon recipients. the point of these, when autocrats pardon people like this, they want them to do more cry more violence on their behalf. >> please stick around. don't go anywhere. coming up, what trump thinks about mandating vaccines and schools him and his rhetoric there. his slogan of make america sick again. k again. ultomiris is continuous symptom control, with improvement in activities of daily living. it is reduced muscle weakness. and ultomiris is the only long-acting gmg treatment with the freedom of just 6 to 7 infusions per year, for a predictable routine i can count on. ultomiris can lower your immune system's ability to fight infections, increasing your chance of serious meningococcal infections, which may become life-threatening or fatal, and other types of infections. complete or update your meningococcal vaccines at least 2 weeks before starting ultomiris. if ultomiris is urgent, you should also receive antibiotics with your vaccines. before starting ultomiris, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions and medications. ultomiris can cause reactions such as back pain, tiredness, dizziness, limb discomfort, or bad taste. ultomiris is moving forward with continuous symptom control. ask your neurologist about starting ultomiris. i brought in ensure max protein with 30 grams of protein! those who tried me felt more energy in just two weeks. -ugh. -here, i'll take that. woo hoo! ensure max protein, 30 grams protein, 1 gram sugar, 25 vitamins and minerals. and a new fiber blend with a prebiotic.
