to florida now. a dramatic day of testimony in a second-degree murder trial of george zimmerman. the state rested its case friday. the defense has started putting witnesses on the stand. but the jury is going into the weekend after hearing testimony from both george zimmerman and trayvon martin's mothers. ron mott has been covering this story for us and joins us from sanford, florida. that ron, that was probably the most pivotal, emotionally difficult day in so many ways listening to these mothers listen to that tape. >> yeah. good morning, alex. a riveting day friday. it's all quiet today. court will resume on monday. these two mothers didn't take the stand for very long but what they say should resonate with this all women jury. five of six jurors are parents themselves. what the two mothers said is i

what's on tap for today? >> good morning, alex. as you can see, things are still pretty quiet. it's early in the morning in new orleans with the doors here open at the top of the hour. that's when the crowds will come for all the attractions here. things are taking place all over the city. the party got kicked off with a number of acts, jill scott, maxwell, l.l. cool j. tonight is new edition. and tomorrow, on the last night of this festival, the the queen bee of them all, beyonce. she is the last performer of this event, headlining the whole thing. this is a big event for the city of new orleans. it attracts tens of thousands of people to the city. as many as 90,000 by some estimates. and it comes at a good time of the city because this is the slow period of tourism. many are not in a rush to come to louisiana in the height of
