before the meeting with xi. let's move on to what this could mean for the ratcheting of one upmanship. what's your concern that there could be a response, another test from north korea after this announcement of the thaad system? >> i think this is a very distinct possibility. when the north koreans look at something like the thaad system they're basically taking a queue from the chinese and view it as a threat because it minimizes the effectiveness of their weapons and it is designed for short range and intermediate range missiles not designed for intercontinental missiles but to realize that is a system in their backyard as they see it, that makes a huge difference and it is going to be something that the north koreans will take into account. it is highly likely i believe that they will test the -- either a nuclear device or perhaps another missile in the next few days.
he will be trying to play donald trump. and certainly he has been briefed. and i think they're savoring the day of playing one-upmanship on the national scene against the american president. >> this morning in warsaw we heard president trump spend some time talking about russian aggression, crimea and the annexation there. how would vladimir putin handle any kind of conversation about russian aggression tomorrow with president trump, do you think? >> it's not russian aggression if -- and he has done it before in a couple of interviews that he has recently given. you know, he would always give an explanation. this is typically what has been done in history. when you have an ethnic minority some place in the neighboring country you'll find -- you know, you have an excuse to go in to
competition inside yemen. i think there is likely to be oneupmanship between these two groups. that puts even more onus on al qaeda in yemen to carry out a spectacular attack against the united states. they have been trying to do this for the last several years but because they are now feel this pressure from isis i think bomb makers will put this into overdrive in terms of building increasingly sophisticated devices that they are trying to get on western passenger jets. it's a very worrying situation in yemen indeed. al qaeda has more space to operate, has had a recruitment windfall from sunni tribals who were infuriated by this houthi takeover in areas to the south, sunni heartlands. >> what do you do about it? you are now pulling out the u.s. -- whatever personnel it did have on the ground shut down the embassy. what kind of power do you have to assert u.s. interest in that country? let's face it, the u.s. is

to go to the chat show "the view." do you think that's politically a mistake? >> well, the president has put forward a pretty compelling case for his stewardship on foreign policy, and i think he's going to run on that. in terms of foreign policy decision-making, there are many ways in which leaders in the modern era can talk to each other. i think one-on-one meetings are often the best, but there are other ways. he clearly set his priorities. governor romney has used that as a way to attack him. and he's suffering that critique. frankly, i don't think the number of meetings you have at the u.n. is going to be a decisive factor. the voters will make, you know, decisions based on an overall record, not this kind of, you know, one-upmanship. >> even with egyptian president morsi coming here, also, again, with the crisis that we've been

even to individuals. >> reporter: in just the past week the group has shut down government websites in sweden and greece, overleading them with traffic. in the u.s. they've hacked into police websites in boston, syracuse, new york, and salt lake city. >> we do not forget. >> reporter: and the most brazen attack of all, anonymous intercepted an fbi e-mail. >> hello. >> reporter: and gained access to a phone call between the fbi and scotland yard. which it then posted online. >> that's fantastic. we actually do have a pending investigation looking into that compromise. >> reporter: and the purpose of this high-level conversation? a discussion on how to combat internet hacking. >> it's kind of like a one-upmanship game. they want to prove to the fbi that they're smarter, and they want to embarrass the fbi. >> reporter: and they've targeted companies like visa and mastercard, taking down their websites in protest after the credit card giants stopped processing contributions to wikileaks. >> one of the problems with anonymous is you can't put your arms around it because there is no organization. there's no leader. there's no commanders. there's no lieutenants. there's no one in charge.
situation here and sanctions, in tough sanctions, i support, broad support in congress for them. there is more talk here about using a military option or laying that out there. but there is a even, if there is some criticism about the limitations of sanctions. i think all of us have to acknowledge the limitations of force and what the consequences can be. this is a very tough situation that has to be managed day by day, step by step. frankly i don't think congress is in a position to micromanage and turns into political debate and one-upmanship. we have commitment from the administration to use every power in its tool kit to keep iran from having a nuclear option. jenna: let me go to the point about energy availability in that region overall because that's a major concern about whether or not we have the oil supply. >> right. jenna: in the global markets to deal with the fact that iran could go rogue completely, shut down the strait of hormuz or have a military action with them in
