so once you understand how that number came to the, it makes more sense. that this caucus is attracting people who have not caucus with the gop before, and they go with the gop and the democrats. but they are drawn in, to make some sort of statement, that since they are not in the trump camp. and the person that they are supporting, mostly, substantially, is nikki haley. and that may be what lifted or her number to be in second place, but also, it leaves a question mark about the -- enthusiasm for republicanism will naturally be lower. >> reporter: fair polls a standard, because this off and catch things that are things myths, and i would say this is the methodology you employ the polling. you're still calling folks, which a lot of pollsters are not doing anymore, and you have

>> you know, i do think it's a mirror into the republican party today. which is a large number of republicans are really looking to get past donald trump. and so, with haley, they think they may have found that candidate, right? it certainly is not ron desantis, the culture warrior, vivek ramaswamy, the carnival barker. but with nikki haley, they think maybe it's a return to a more traditional form of republicanism. i think the problem with that, though, is that when people tried to like her, and tried to think she's perhaps more moderate, more sensible, she does something to remind them that she's really just a raw republican politician who's happy with the maga base when she needs a, and she's happy to try to suggest she's not macgowan she's trying to win new hampshire. and i think that duplicity from nikki haley ultimately will eat into that number of republicans who say, hey, i'll stick around if it's nikki haley. those are the biden coalition softer republican voters that have been with democrats in 1820 and 22. i think they'll stay with biden

corral republican votes against certifying the elections in multiple swing states. not his own. in today's republican party, election denialism is a badge of honor and not a mark of shame. in fact, it's now a requirement and a central tenant of republicanism. their denialism is also a daily insult to people like officer dunn. in his new book, standing my ground, a capitol hill officer's fight for accountability and good trouble, he writes, i speak out notecause i want something for me, but because i want accountability. i want the people responsible for that day, including trump and anybody else who conspired to breach the capitol and tie to halt our democracy, to pay a price. just like we paid a price. i recently spoke to harry dunn. i began by asking him about house republicans choosing one of the top election deniers, mike johnson, as speaker.
