worry people in the west is the production of opium, which obviously leads to heroin. the americans and british never managed to stop the production of opium in afghanistan. what is the taliban's attitude to it? well, the taliban has a new attitude. we just recently heard the spokesman saying that the taliban wants to bring afghanistan to a drug—free state and that is a nice in ambition, it is something the taliban also stated in the 1990s, even as it taxed the opium economy was deeply involved in it, as it has been in the past 20 years. there was no easy exit out of the poppy. it is the blood life of the economy, a tremendous number of people depend on it, it brings the taliban hundreds of thousands of dollars or at least tens of millions of dollars, rather, or hundreds of millions of dollars a year. and more importantly, it employs very many people.

spokesman very recently, you will know that they believe that there is no way they can end their armed struggle until you end the blockade, and there's no sign of it ending. there are also worrying signs that your government sees the international aid agencies, the ngos that are trying to deliver help to hundreds of thousands of people who are facing famine in tigray, you appear to see them as part of the problem. one government spokesman, redwan hussein, recently referred to aid groups as "playing a destructive role". what is that supposed to mean? that's only a reference to a very small minority of organisations. the overwhelming majority of aid organisations are providing aid and assistance to those in need. we are cooperating with them. we facilitate their work, so we don't have a problem with them. and as i have noted earlier, when we declared the unilateral ceasefire, our objective, our intent was for humanitarian

against civilians, including children, is not being denounced. it's not being looked into by international humanitarian human rights organisations. if you had watched my interview with the spokesman for the tplf, you will know that i went into great detail. ido... i would like to acknowledge that, and i do recognise that. thank you. it's important that we challenge both sides in this conflict. let's get back to your side. let's get back to the language being used by your own prime minister, abiy ahmed, who just last month used these words to describe the tigray people's liberation front — he described them as "a cancer", as "weeds", as "a disease." he said that "these weeds will be removed from our country." as attorney general

situation on the heels of what happened in paris, is very interesting indeed. 20 years ago, this would have been just horrific murder, and we wouldn't have this panel here. today, on the heels of paris and other attacks, and let's face it, this is an epidemic here in the u.s. -- >> let me go back to the fbi spokesman. he said, we will go where the evidence takes us, as it relates to terror. he was very, very clear about that. and he mentioned a few potential things were out there that are making them stay on that course. as well as the workplace violence course. >> right. but workplace violence is what makes sense in this one, sean. >> i disagree with you. >> people say oh they went home, it doesn't take long to go home, get your gun and come back. >> wait a minute, eric, you're saying they went home, incident at the party. they went home, put on tactical gear, that was all prepared and laid out, that apparently might have been even booby trapped their house and had some type of

female. we've also been tipped off of names. you've heard the names as well. i talked to federal law enforcement and local law enforcement involved with this case directly right now. the issue is, they're not getting any directive from washington or anywhere else. this is within their own agency. they know it's a sensitive situation in this country right now. they're trying to determine exactly the names as you might imagine, at least one, they believe, could be middle eastern, but part of the reason why they were holding back, sean, they wanted to get into the suv, ensure that those ids, or information that might be in there would help them secure what those names are. so that's why they're being dell date. at least the people i know involved in the case. and understandably why they're doing that. but they have one individual i spoke to, you know, has seen obviously the two dead suspects, and says obviously there are some concerns there. but, they cannot connect that dot yet, sean. >> the fbi spokesman was clear, they're not ruling out terrorism, now you're reporting that in fact one of the people involved, one of those shot and killed is middle eastern, so i'm

okay. so, let me introduce my guest. cnn chief national security correspondent brian leaven is here and the center from the and kasheem the spokesman for the muslim community usa and harvard fellow. welcome to all of you. jim, i want to start with you. because a lot of americans have made up their mind that this was terrorism and somehow it was connected to isis. some americans aren't so sure. maybe it was workplace violence and fueled by something else. what are authorities saying? >> here's what authorities say. number one, fact is they don't know. they just don't know at this point. so, people have to keep an open mind because the investigators are keeping an open mind. that said, they are leaving both possible explanations out there as credible at this point. it's possible that it was workplace violence or that it was some sort of domestic terrorism or international terrorism or, and this is interesting, this would be

to lead that. >> harry, i've got to say, you saw the police spokesman soon after that shooting coming out and saying the officer was, you know -- laquan mcdonald lunged at the officer. the video certainly doesn't bear that out at all. >> no. i mean, i spoke about this before also. i think that officer acted improperly in the laquan mcdonald shooting. that officer is going to pay the price. >> but the fact that this lasted for a year -- >> well, that's a question. i've investigated a lot of shootings like that. dozens of them. all right? two weeks, it should be over. >> when you worked for internal affairs? >> no, when i was a detective. when there were gunfight and they shot people. we would investigate those. two weeks, that case is over. you're not looking for a perp here on a case like that. so you know, it should be even a shorter period of time. the fact that this video took a year to come out, i'm sure that was not on the police department. because if that mayor wanted that video out, he would have told the commissioner or the
