presidential race front and centre donald trump watching meetings with lawmakers and business leaders while president joe biden half the roadway and italy pledging more support for ukraine as he meets with world leaders. for the first time today, commenting on his son hunter. wait till you hear what he said. what did he say over there and who did and didn't show up for donald trump over here? what the president is no sane. welcome everybody glad to have everybody with us. let's begin first with mike emanuel on what we are hearing from the president. mike. >> good afternoon president biden speaking in italy a short time ago offering support for his son hunter following his conviction on gun charges in delaware. >> i am externally proud of my son hunter he is overcome an addiction and is 1 of the brightest, most decent men and no. i am satisfied that i'm knuckling to do anything i said i'd buy by the jury decision i will do that and not pardon him. >> was also asked about efforts to achieve a cease-fire in the middle east but some frustration >> i've laid out an approach that spins and doris by the u.n. security council, by the g7 by the israeli -- that's been endorsed -- the biggest hangup so far is hamas' refusing to sign on even though they have saluted something similar. whether or not comes to fruition remains to be seen. >> president biden and ukraine president volodymyr zelenskyy signed a joint security agreement with mr biden sending this message to russia president vladimir putin in russia. >> you are taking 3 major steps at the g7 that collectively show prudent he cannot wait this out cannot divide us. -- putin. we'll be with ukraine until this or is over. >> another reporter asked another question about hunter. >> a long way from home no part in, no connotation. neo. >> neil: mike emanuel thank you. that everyone showing up but i saw it all go down. >> clay few people i would say neil a lot more than you think about what why years ago when pretty powerful republicans were telling me they didn't want to ever see trump come back to this town especially not the white house. now many of them were actually inside with him and throwing their entire support behind him. that's exactly what he wanted when he came here. he wanted to give them some sort of leadership in both chambers and try to unite these 2 sides ahead of the november election. he felt like he has to be able to send a message to american voters that republicans can be trusted to have control of the house and senate and there we'll be any chaos if they do when back than majorities are trump gave me an axis of interview a few moments ago a lot of news came out of including whether or not he chosen his vice president. i asked him if he knew who it was and he said he had a pretty good idea of who it was but he wouldn't tell me who course. he said he'll make that announcement during the republican national convention. he also answered a question about the errancy happening in milwaukee democrats making a big deal right now about 7 comments trump made about that city. apparently calling it horrible and trump togolese that he was actually talking about the crime in the city and also the election integrity issues in that city kirk i also asked him about his first time seeing senate minority leader mitch mcconnell after 4 long years of course we both know they had some bad blood. he saw him and met with them and had a very cordial meeting with him. then we also got to speak with o'connell himself. >> out a suit be with the former president? >> we had a good meeting. >> did you talk to him directly? >> yeah. >> so it looks like they're just going to let bygones be bygones and move forward for the sake of the party and the election. 1 more piece of news trump broke today and this was a big 1 if you're following the senate races of course republicans trying to flip the senate in their favour. there was some of the fit seemed between the rnc and the trump campaign. folks. and former maryland governor -- governor larry coven because he told voters to respect the manhattan verdict after trump was found guilty and convicted. i asked him you're trying to win back the house and senate are you going to support larry hogan and he said absolutely i will support him 100% and i said is it in endorsement and he said i guess no 1 has asked me but, yeah, i am endorsing him. so trump now officially endorsing larry hogan for senate. neil. >> neil: alright, interesting. is an easy pick up, easier than it would normally be to have it slip back to the popular governor taking a seat we will watch that. speaking of the maryland governor westmore the current holder of the office will drum you later on this show. i got things pretty much open for business there but i wonder what he makes of some political developments inside and outside marilyn he will join us again a little later. in the meantime we have the hell editor-in-chief observed all this political and overstuffed always good to see you. first off on what we heard out of donald trump today and the unity was showing among republicans not all were there and sought by far most rare there. when it came to senators i noticed nick romney did show up for the senate parallel but lisa mccaskey didn't. that is still a very high percentage of course mission o'connell saying the nice thanks he did afterwards. so where do we stand with the republicans support accurately in lockstep with the former president, what do you make of it? >> as you know trump is such an unconventional politician candidate for president he's doing the conventional thing here and he is sniper unit and the gop. they be in fractured. i thank the news that she got out of trump that he is endorsing him that is significant paired all beasley it's in trump's interest that the senate flipped to republicans which it likely will. but he wants as many republicans as he can get. so that is big. at thank he can make an argument there some democrats who are not fond of joe biden because of israel but the unity today was significant. that was the plan and i was actually impressed that mcconnell and trump basically shook hands and did a fist pump. >> neil: i'd be curious switching to joe biden first time commenting on hunter what did you make of it? >> the president has said that he would not pardon and today not in the sentence. i think that is just for right now honestly anneal. if it's after the election and it would be after the election if he wins or loses i think he could change his tune. the president has said he los his son and supports and and has done nothing wrong. if he can keep him out of prison i think he's going to do it. i think this is a unknot doing this right now and certainly were not seeing anything before the election weight until after. >> neil: it's an issue i hope to raise with the maryland governor about how jazz democrats are or not for a biden led effort to take back the white house and keep it in his control. and the way republicans are rallying around donald trump evil of some other misgivings at the beginning of the election year. so," publicans seen jazz. voters seem jazz. democratic voters not so much. you from reminding me in history that can change. how do you see it now? >> the enthusiasm is certainly with trump and that's part of the reason the polls are with trump. there was enthusiasm in 2020 and the democratic side that's not there now. that could change down the stretch will seal up the debates pierced certainly abortion will help democrats. bow a lot of other issues inflation a company and emigration trump has the advantage of most of them. that's why he's winning the battle grounds and that's why some of these states we've talked about like virginia their hampshire -- new hampshire and minnesota are up for grabs. trump wants to expand the map and for now he has. >> neil: india. for now. thank you very much bob. we will keep you posted on those develop men's and also keeping you posted on markets down the fourth day in a row. we had a market from report today on wholesale inflation with the goal the producer price index for the month of may that was negative month over month, year-over-year trucking along about 2.2% gain. that is closer to her at the fed wants it today but not close enough it would act not to have rates. probably will mark coming this year and thus not even giving. that was enough to propel these records. not showing any of that but it was well up and slows. off about 65. now back to political develop once on capitol hill including the gop led effort to go after the attorney general of the united states. chat has more. >> the household in contempt of congress but could congress take thanks a step further? i'll explain that next. unique style, cutting-edge innovation, and thoughtful details, inspired by you. this is the all-electric rz. this is lexus, electrified. >> we are hoping it doesn't get to that but as you see as you stated he has not complied. we have scent 2 subpoenas they think they are above the law. >> carla did not comply with the simply -- subpoena the tapes of the interview conducted with president biden. under inherent contempt congress does not rely on the executive branch. you can post this out -- to hold him until he complies with a subpoena. >> that's an interesting scenario. apparently legally there is a precedent to do that. i'm all for. congress found various figures in contempt in the 17 nineties and early 18 hundreds. congress held an official from a commerce department that the willard hotel in washington for 10 days after failing to comply with a subpoena in the 1930s. democrats shrug off contempt. >> this is an attempt to relieve for them to discharge from the a spectacular flop. try to impeach secretary mariposa and that didn't work. there something to genet their troops but i thank the american public understands they completely run out of gas. >> promising to file an inherent contempt resolution 10 days after the first contempt foe. inherent contempt may lack the vote to pass. >> thank you. ladies welcomed the both of you. carry first off on this effort to go after the attorney general and even if they add a sort of repurposed line of attack where it is ago? >> the department of justice has artie put out a memo from the office of legal counsel which is basically the general counsel for the doj saying that criminal contempt of congress does not apply to executive branch officials who did not comply with the congressional subpoenas where executive privilege has been asserted. neo, you know i've expanse with this because these direct medications at doj i believe we made some similar arguments at the time. i think it's pretty clear the house doesn't want to turn over the audio for political reasons. they want that for political reasons. i think democrats have a harder argument to make given the fact the transcript has be released as to why they won't also include the audio. on the other hand out with the republicans wanting the audio out there personally i think it's just to let the american republican what we are seeing with our own eyes and ears every day. that is the very sad decline president joe biden. >> neil: without the audio it's a temper case to a safe sea we have the proof. when you read the transcript it is a little disturbing or worrisome but it is what it is. it looks like that's as far as this goes. what do you think we. >> i think joe biden absolutely does not want this audio release. and must be really bad because they are going and pushing the extent of the constitution to deny the release of this. they executive privilege is not limitless therapy in cases in the past with nixon were obviously there was an insertion of executive privilege overturned by the court. i think would be appropriate in his case to appoint a special counsel to look into this sort of thing but obviously any sort of referral to the doj for a contempt of congress charge is just going to go nowhere here. >> neil: let me switch gears if you don't mind. the president finally speaking about the hunter biden situation in this joint presser. a follow-up question from jackie heinrich that he has no intention of doing anything like that for the time being. and cut into the chase but it really cuts to what he is saying now. i stress now. what do you think we. >> he is not responding i believed questions about whether he will commute the sentence paragraph encodes possible button-down deal of course if dolmetsch wanted to become president he could pardon hunter biden in a grand acta set the country back on track. my concern with these wars and everything loosing the past few years i do fear we have decided into a culture of revenge politics with the justice department at the centre. and that is not the place for the justice department. it's not in every country. i think there's a possibility he will do that for hunter biden sentence but i think it said we've gone to this point at all. >> de thing again looking at the hunter biden situation you have to find out the sentencing and where this goes but let's say he is sentenced and then you have the tax case that comes up. technically with the sentencing there that would be the case he would have a prior history right when it comes to meeting potential on the tax charges. what you think we. >> i think absolutely hunter biden's biggest concern with the sentence is going to come if he is convicted in the tax case because he will be a convicted felon at that time pierce so certainly his exposure of the gun charges is a lot lesser because it's a first time a fence. the big question i think under the federal sentencing guidelines is whether he expresses contrition or remorse for his acts because it's is -- significant reduction in the mandatory sentences under those guidelines. so i don't know if he'll end up taking some sort of mobile plea deal to avoid the exposure of more very embarrassing information about his family but if he is convicted or if he takes a deal, the impact of the original collection we'll be vary significant on him. >> and the other option is unity service or something like that i'm getting ahead of myself maybe but jail isn't the only sentencing option right? >> that's right. he is also a nonviolent first-time offender. despite the fact in his buggy detail years and years of illegal drug use. i will say though and the tax case that's a serious case far more so especially for his father. the invocations for joe and the detailer could reveal right before the election acting could be vary problematic. so i'm wondering if under and his dad and legal team are currently having conversations about possibly pleading guilty to avoid all that. >> neil: interesting. katie think you will be monitoring all of this. also monitoring mother nature when it comes to what we're expanse in this country with a heat wave expected to hit half of americans but nothing we'll like what you're seeing in florida right now wearing knee deep let's continue. showing no slowdown. it is still ongoing. that of course has had a lot of people unable to get to their homes are anywhere. it's right and we've got the latest after this well ♪ ♪ jardiance! ♪ ♪ it's a little pill with a big story to tell ♪ ♪ i take once-daily jardiance ♪ ♪ at each day's start! ♪ ♪ as time went on it was easy to see ♪ ♪ i'm lowering my a1c! ♪ jardiance works twenty-four seven in your body to flush out some sugar. and for adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease, jardiance can lower the risk of cardiovascular death, too. serious side effects may include ketoacidosis that may be fatal, dehydration that can lead to sudden worsening of kidney function, and genital yeast or urinary tract infections. a rare, life-threatening bacterial infection in the skin of the perineum could occur. stop jardiance and call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of this infection ketoacidosis, or an allergic reaction. you may have an increased risk for lower limb loss. call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of infection in your legs or feet. taking jardiance with a sulfonylurea or insulin may cause low blood sugar. ♪ jardiance is really swell ♪ ♪ the little pill ♪ ♪ with a big story to tell! ♪ ♪ when you're a small business owner, your to-do list can be...a lot. ♪ [ cellphone whooshes ] [ sighs ] that's why progressive makes it easy to save with a commercial auto quote online so you can take on all your others to-dos. already did. see if you could save at progressivecommercial.com. let's get the rest of these plants in. organic soil from miracle-gro has grown me the best garden i have ever had. good soil, and you get good results. this soil will blow you away. it's the martha stewart of soil. every day, more dog people are deciding it's time for a fresh approach to pet food. developed with vets. made from real meat and veggies. portioned for your dog. and delivered right to your door. it's smarter, healthier pet food. >> neil: that did not take long. less than a look of weeks after the collapse of the premises got key bridge in baltimore it's is reopened for business. government marilyn coming up now 5 florida counters are under state of emergency as severe flooding continues and does not let up -- florida counties. are fox mother correspondent in miami i believe with the latest technical. >> reporter: neil an
