there's not much incentive for doctors to talk to you on the phone. so one of the big hurdles we've had is payment. >> i'm just reading here about 200,000 patients nationwide receive some sort of treatment v via mobile monitoring units in their home. >> that could be getting some form of monitoring in the home. the veterans administration, for example, uses remote monitoring in about 50,000 veterans homes. it's being -- it's increasingly used all over the country for that, particularly with people with chronic conditions. as you know, ali, people with chronic conditions are the ones who not only have the greatest need but also are among the greatest sources of cost. >> yep. >> for health care. >> okay. so there are a couple of things here. first of all, a lot of countries are further advanced than the united states is in telemedicine. i had a conversation -- i talk very often about our being less than competitive in terms of broadband capabilities. is that why? or is there something else? >> well, certainly broadband -- the need to extend broadband

there are just 12 days left until election day. we want to get you updated on all the developing stories from the campaign trail. cnn's wolf blitzer joining us now from washington. hello, wolf. >> ali, thanks. it's always a political news story here, especially as we get closer and closerer eto the elections. surprisingly, christine o'donnell, the republican candidate for the u.s. senate in delaware, is now acknowledging it was a mistake for her to issue that cont verle havrovers which she said, i am not a witch. she's saying, i don't know if i will get in trouble for saying that, but our intention was to kill it and that's not what happened. at the debate last week when i was in delaware, i asked her, if
whole debate. and the proof of that came just a few minutes ago here, ali. the council that is coordinating the various days of protest and things you just talked about says they are going to have two new days of protest. they've scheduled two new days of protest, one next thursday and one on november 6th. but those days are actually going to be after the government votes shall gets through both houses of parliament, the pension reform act. in a sense, they are conceding that they are not going to win this battle about pension reform. but they are not conceding the war. basically what they said in the news conference is that they believe their movement has taken root in french society and among citizens and among workers who feel that there's a certain amount of injustice in french society and injustice in the sarkozy reform. this is becoming a much broader
voting for that time. not really sure this time around. it's hard, you know, to buy in with what the president is trying to sell right now. you voted for that hope and change, but i need you to vote again to allow me to fulfill that hope and change you voted for. that right now is what we're finding is not resonating. >> t.j., we keep saying how people are disappointed and let down by the president. this was a big constituency for the president, first-time votes, kids who were interested in changing the world in terms of energy use and gay rights. is there some sense that -- that people who were obama supporters back then, students, are not today? or are they just not that interested in voting? >> okay. they're a little jaded, yes. there's just -- we know already naturally, ali, most americans don't get as engaged in midterms, and certainly not young people getting engaged as well. a lot of them, they hit that lever back in 2008 and they went about their business, quite
